According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India had 13.9 crore domestic air travelers in 2018- up 18.6% from 11.7 crores in 2017. The rising demand has pushed the requirement for airplanes as well. As of July 2018, there were nearly 620 aircraft being operated by schedule airline operators in India. The number of airplanes is expected to grow to 1100 planes by 2027. Such robust growth has created increasing job opportunities in the aviation sector.

Sensing the need for trained manpower in very high demand in the rapidly growing aviation sector, Vels Institute of Science, Technology & Advanced Studies has launched several short term and Technical courses to provide job opportunities to the growing number of unemployed youth.
