I want to prove myself again: Gourav Saikia

Kaziranga University

I appeared for the class 10^th state board exam in 2015 and scored 91 percent.

I had a strong desire to become a doctor since childhood; may be because my parents are working in medical field. So in higher secondary I chose to pursue Science stream with Biology from North Lakhimpur College, Lakhimpur, Assam; one of the best and reputed colleges of my state. As my percentage was quite good I easily managed to get a seat in North Lakhimpur College. I chose this college because it has proven record of good results and is awarded the prestigious ‘A’ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

From Biology to BBA

Gradually I realized that the course was completely different and vaster than my class 10^th Science. In hostel life first thing we have to learn is time management. But being new to hostel life, it was quite difficult for me to manage my time properly.

In 2017 I appeared for class 12^th final exam. As compared to class 10^th result, my class 12^th result was bad. I barely managed to get first division with 67% marks. That year was the worst year for me. Everybody forced me to go for improvement exam. But I was against it because I knew Science was not for me. I wanted to pursue management studies, instead.

I have always been curious about companies and businesses. I wanted to know how a company grows and how it works. So, I told my parents that I want to study Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) but everybody was against me. They were worried that what I will do after BBA. After a lot of discussions and arguments finally they agreed to let me study BBA. I decided to take admission in Kaziranga University, one of the top universities of north east India. It is located in Jorhat, the knowledge city of Assam.

For admission into this university, no entrance exam is held. So the admission process was quite smooth. I approached the KU admission department and the staff guided me through whole admission process.

My college experience

KU has a really good campus. Classroom, eminar hall, auditorium and over all infrastructure of the university is excellent. Faculty members are good and helpful. The university has a system of mentorship. Students get guidance from their mentors. We can approach our respective mentors with any kind of problems that we are facing in college. I can proudly say that Kaziranga University is completely a ragging free campus because the university has strict rules for it. Recently I appeared for the 2^nd semester final exam. My experience of KU in my first year has been really good. I will recommend people to visit our university.

In 2017, I faced bad days. I admit that in class 12^th mobile phone was biggest distraction. It was my fault. Now I want to correct my faults. I have to prove myself again. Like everyone I don’t want to run after any job, I want something my own. I believe: “hard work pays off”. If we believe in God and oneself, we will be successful in our lives.
