How I Prepared and scored 85% IN NBSAT, says Apurva (Batch: 2022-24)
I was already preparing for various competitive exams when I came across NBSAT (Narayana Business School Admission Test), the exam conducted by Narayana Business School, one of the top-ranked colleges in PGDM and MBA in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. When I visited the college website and went through the placements offered by the college, I was taken aback as NBS has not only been providing excellent placements for years but also good internship offers catering to the needs of today’s fast-paced and ever-changing industry and corporate demands. I was also impressed by the way NBS helps in the overall development of the student focusing on skill enhancement and knowledge through constant learning and not only on increasing the bookish knowledge of individuals. Narayana Business School is preferred by 670+ organizations from diverse sectors including government companies, unicorn start-ups, and top national & foreign MNCs for their managerial needs. Most recruiters come to NBS year after year and compete for the cream of the cream students. This is the secret behind NBS’s consistent legacy of 100% placements for over 22 years. NBS assists students and recruiters at every step of the placement process. I starting preparing for it as I realized that my career prospects would increase many folds if I get into NBS and thus I gave it my best shot.
The NBSAT paper is divided into four sections Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency, Vocabulary & Analytical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension.
For the Quantitative section, one needs to have a command on basic maths including Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry. For this section revise all the concepts and formulas from your 11th and 12th maths textbook. The square of the numbers from 1 to 30 and cubes from 1 to 20 should be memorized thoroughly to do faster calculations. Along with it, also have knowledge about the decimal values of fractions from 1 to 20. Once your basics are clear try attempting more difficult level questions from various websites such as Crack, Bankersadda, TIME etc. Also, try solving previous year CMAT, XAT, MAT and CAT papers for enhancing your knowledge, and increase your speed and concept building. Different sites from you-tube can also be referred for practice purposes such as Career Launcher, MBA Guru, Time, Test Funda, Olive board etc.
For Data Interpretation (DI), the key is to practice as much as you can, to build command over the varied variety of questions. Try solving at least two Data Interpretations daily during your preparation. Take a problem which is graph related, try solving case-based tables and caselets on arithmetic topics such as Time and Distance, Probability, Simple Interest Compound Interest Profit & Loss etc.

For the Analytical Reasoning and Vocabulary section, the key is to focus on increasing your vocabulary. For this, make a habit of reading an English newspaper daily, try reading English novels (preferably foreign authors) and watching English Dramas, these things helped me a lot in building a strong vocabulary. For Analytical Reasoning try solving as many questions as you can on Blood Relations (Ex Question: Introducing a boy, a girl said, "He is the son of the daughter of the father of my uncle." How is the boy related to the girl? Answer: Brother), Syllogisms, Para-Jumbles, Directions (Ex Question: A man goes 3 km. East from point A and then takes a right turn from point B to move 4 kms. to point C. What is the minimum distance between point A and point C?), Puzzles.
For the last section which is reading comprehension, which is also a very scoring section, try reading newspaper editorials and various day-to-day articles from various newspapers like The Hindu, The Business Line and The Economic Times. Also solve previous year's questions based on reading comprehension for practice purposes. One can also refer to various websites on YouTube for reference and practice purposes.
If you follow all the things mentioned above, you are bound to succeed, just try and give it your best shot and don’t get afraid or nervous in your journey. Have faith in yourself as well as your hard work and don’t forget that consistency is the key here, as there is no substitute for hard work. I scored 85 percentile in my NBSAT exam by putting in consistent and constant efforts. Focus more on building your speed and accuracy by practising as much as you can. Be vigilant and try to learn and grab new things, be aware of what is happening around you, always keep an eye on your goal and don’t lose focus. Success will be surely yours. Feel free to reach out to me in case of any problems and queries.
ALL THE BEST to all future aspirants. May all your hard work and efforts pay off.
