Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses across 13 departments such as Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Physics and Mathematics, among others. The institute also offers an Integrated MSc of five-year duration. Candidates can apply for admission to the course of their choice via online mode. Admission to all the courses offered by CIT Coimbatore is merit as well as entrance based.
CIT Coimbatore has a seat intake of 45 for an MCA. 30 seats out of the total seat intake is for full-time MCA. 15 seats are allocated for candidates applying for admission through Lateral Entry.
Coimbatore Institute of Technology offers BSc-MSc integrated course in four specialisations. The duration of these courses is five years. For admission, aspirants need to take the entrance examination conducted by the institute. Before applying, candidates must check the eligibility requirements. The offered course specialisations are:
- Decision and Computing Sciences
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Data Science
- Software Systems
The curriculum of CIT BSc+MSc Software Systems course is divided in semester-wise syllabus. There are theory and practical subjects in the curriculum. Each of the semester has practical labs to make students understand the subject better. Some of the lab subjects are mentioned below:
- Python Programming Lab
- Web Application Development Lab
- Digital Electronics Lab
- Computing Lab
- Network Programming Lab
- Java Programming Lab, etc.
The Coimbatore Institute of Technology does not offer a single BSc programme. It offers the UG course as an integrated programme with MSc. The integrated course is available in four specialisations. For admission, the aspirants are required to take the entrance test conducted by the institute and then the technical interview. Following this, final selection is done based on academic performance, entrance score, and performance in technical interview round. Before applying, aspirants should check eligibility criteria. The applications are accepted in online mode.
The students can choose the preferred elective subject from the list offered by the institute. There are electives - theory subjects divided under certain categories. Mentioned below are some of the electives included in CIT BSc-MSc Decision and Computing Science (for Management stream):

CIT Coimbatore released an official notification to declare the date and time of joining for selected candidates. As per the official notice, selected candidates could report from Jun 24 to Jun 27, 2024 from 9:30 am onwards. Students had to bring all the original certificates along with attested copies and DD of INR 78,400 as the first semester fee. The candidates can download the CIT bunch from the official website as well.
Candidates seeking admission to a integrated MSc course of CIT Coimbatore must be Class 12 or equivalent pass from a recognised board. The qualifying exam should have been passed with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and secured at least 75% aggregate (except for SC/ST candidates).
The applicants of Decision and Computing Sciences course can apply with some other subject combinations as well. Out of which one subject can be from Category A and two from Category B. Subjects under both the categories are mentioned below:
- Category A: Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Statistics/Business Mathematics/Business Mathematics and Statistics
- Category B: Commerce/Economics/Accountancy/Computer Science
CIT Coimbatore seat reservation is not available on the web as of now. However, the institute does provide relaxation in minimum aggregate to the SC/ST candidates. For general category candidates, the minimum mark requires in Class 12 is 75%. Moreover, the Coimbatore Institute of Technology may follow the seat reservation rules as prescribed by the state or central government.
