Yes, Chennai Institute of Technology accepts the scores of GATE / CEETA PG exam for admission to the two-year ME programme at the college campus. Chennai Institute of Technology offers full-time two-year ME programmes across five specialisations. Candidates, to be eligible, are required to have completed their UG degree in relevant field with 50% aggregate for General category students and with a minimum of 40% aggregate for reserved category students.
Chennai Institute of Technology provides admission to BE and BTech on the basis of TNEA scores. Among the General AI category candidates, the cutoff ranks varied between 3537 and 18646. Candidates willing to pursue BTech at CIT need to appear for TNEA counselling to be eligible. The TNEA application form is released in online mode only and eligible candidates can register for the online state-level counselling at tneaonline.org. Apart from the online application form available on the website, candidates can also visit the TNEA Facilitation Centers (TFC) established in selected cities and fill out the application form. Interested students seeking the steps to fill out the TNEA application form can check out the detailed process below:
Step 1: Registration: Provide the details asked and register for counselling.
Step 2: Login: Candidates who register successfully are issued login details that include a username and password.
Step 3: Fill out the online application form: Candidates have to complete the online application form which has seven parts. One part of them is the application fee payment.
Step 4: Preview and submit the online form: Candidates can preview the form carefully once before final submission.
Step 5: Download the online form: The online form can be downloaded after the final submission. Candidates must keep the downloaded copy with them. It is not meant to be sent to the authorities.
The TNEA 2026 dates will be announced in May 2026. Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu will release the application process for TNEA 2026.
Candidates can check the important TNEA 2026 dates like registration dates, random number release dates, Certificate verification dates, rank list release dates and counselling dates. The counselling rounds will include steps like Choice Filling, Allotment, Confirmation of Allotment, and Reporting to the College/TFC and payment of fees.
10+2 passed/appearing candidates can apply for TNEA counselling. Admission will be based on marks obtained by the candidates in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths Physics and Chemistry which will be reduced to 200 (Maths 100, Physics 50 and Chemistry 50).
