Placements: There are no placements for this particular course, but there is an edge which we as students of the University of Delhi do get. This is because, on the one hand, the student pursue their concurrent courses, while on the other hand, they also learn the traditional art forms of Indian classical music from a unique institute, which is a mixture of an age-old education system, i.e., the Guru Shishya Parampar and institutionalized modern education system. The atmosphere of teaching-learning is indeed that of an extended family.
Infrastructure: The sprawling college campus at Daulat Ram college is full of usher greenery as well as is well equipped with all the instruments necessary for the B.A. (Hons) music. All the musical instruments like Sitar, Tanpura, Tabla, Violin all are there in the college. The library is well stocked with all the necessary books. It has books covering all aspects of music like sangeet Sarita, sangeet Ratnakar, Natya Shastra, etc. Audio library and rail library are also available. Wi-Fi is available. There is a fully air-conditioned auditorium for practice, and even there are air conditioners in all classes. The recently furnished canteen is the hub of out of class discussions and exchange of information. It also provides snacks, drinks and lunch at subsidised rate water cooler are also installed at various sites in college. The sports complex is well developed with the involvement of college in various sports like kabbadi, kho-kho, cricket, etc. The facility of the gym is also available for college students in the sports complex itself. There is a proper medical facility available in the college. The medical rooms are well equipped with all sorts of new equipment, B.Ed medicines for emergency and small ailments.
Faculty: Teachers of the music faculty are all systematically and all help students if there is any problem they face at any time period of three years of their study at the college. The course material is also relevant for the overall development of student for the course. Theory and practical are the major part of the course curriculum with equal emphasis on both. All the teachers teaching there are PhD holders as well as well known artists.
Other: I chose this course because I had an interest in music. Even there is a practical entrance test for the course which does check your proficiency, interest in this field. The fest here at Daulat Ram college is filled with enthusiasm, colours of life and whatnot. The fest over here is amongst the top ten tests of Delhi University. College fest is named as Manjari. There are a lot of extracurricular activities 8nvokver in the college for the overall development of the student. There are a lot of societies involving debating societies, dramatic society, fine arts society, film and photography society, sepia, music and dance society, NCC, NSS.
