B.A. (Hons.) in Political Science - Batch of 2028

Decent college in every aspect.
Placements: It is a Political Science course, placements are rare. Students usually prepare for government exams. There is a placement cell in the college through which you can get internships and jobs. You can also work with NGOs. It depends on the individual.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is decent. There is a library. Construction is going on. A new building is being constructed. A few classrooms are small, and a few are spacious. There are labs for Science students. The hostel facility is really good. There is Wi-Fi, a medical facility, and mess food is decent, with meals 4 times.
Faculty: Faculty is good. Curriculum is based on the Delhi University syllabus. There are two semester exams for every paper. We have 7 papers. Semester exams are based on PYQs, not very difficult. The professors are highly qualified and helpful, it depends from department to department.
Other: I chose my course because I enjoy studying Political Science. I wish the syllabus was lessened. The fests are really good, college societies are active and there are a lot of extracurricular activities, events, and competitions.

Good placements and supportive faculty.
Placements: The placement rate of our department is quite good. A good percentage of students secure placements each year. There is also a placement cell in our college, which is quite active throughout the year and helps students secure placements. Hence, the placement rate is quite satisfactory.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are good. The library provides a good environment and is also spacious. The classrooms are well ventilated. There is a huge sports complex and a big lawn area. I did not stay in the hostel, so I do not have much idea regarding the hostel facilities.
Faculty: Faculty is good. They are knowledgeable and really supportive. This creates a positive learning environment. Professors are approachable. Beyond academics, they guide us in our overall development. They highly encourage student participation and discussions.

Need for maintenance, good placements, and really good faculty.
Placements: The highest package last year was 21 LPA, and the average package was 6 LPA. There are not many placement opportunities for my course. Most students from my course opt for higher studies or competitive exams. However, some of the roles offered are Researcher, Policy, and Consultant.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is relatively decent, but the maintenance is poor. We do not have a dedicated department space. The hostels are very expensive. The sports facilities can be improved. The canteen is affordable and hygienic. The library is good and has AC, but sometimes the Wi-Fi does not work. The library staff is very rude and not understanding.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, understanding, and knowledgeable in their subjects. The curriculum is based on the latest NEP guidelines. Since my course is not a technical course, it does not make students industry-ready. The semester exams are of moderate difficulty, neither very easy nor very difficult.
Other: I chose this course because I am inclined to the Social Sciences. I like the inclusion of new technologies and the efforts to make students more employable through the course. The events, fests, campus crowd, and extracurricular activities are quite good.

An amiable and nurturing crowd and environment.
Placements: The placement cell of Daulat Ram College conducts several events regularly. Recruiters from various backgrounds are invited. Students get opportunities to explore several fields, including Economics, Commerce, and Humanities. As per my knowledge, the highest package is 20 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average. There are visible cracks and faded walls in some areas. The campus needs better cleaning and maintenance. Certain ISPs do not work properly within the campus. The library is properly air-conditioned and provides students with a comfortable environment to study.
Faculty: Faculty is highly qualified and knowledgeable. However, the course curriculum feels a little less practical because of the teaching style used by some teachers. But they try their best to teach. There is a lack of connection with real-world situations. The semester exams are not very difficult and mainly test students' critical thinking skills and depth of understanding. Almost every student passes the exams.
Other: The Political Science course develops critical and analytical thinking skills. It is highly relevant to subjects like Economics, History, and Philosophy. However, I feel there is a need to make the course more case study-based, practical, and relevant to real-world situations.

Good memories in a beautiful place.
Placements: There are too many companies that come to our college and give opportunities to many students. The highest package is 23 LPA. Companies like Deloitte, PwC, and others visit for placements. Our college's Vriddhi Cell helps students get placements. Many roles are offered in our course, such as Political Analyst, Journalism, and other related fields, where students get placed.
Infrastructure: The classes in our college are well-furnished, and some rooms have AC also. There are labs for the Science department students. The library is well furnished, has Wi-Fi that works really well, and also has AC where students study during the harsh summer. I am not in the hostel, but I hear that the food is good. The rooms are well furnished with AC. The canteen is good, and the food is delicious. Our college also performs really well in sports.
Faculty: When I get into this college, I feel nervous about how it is going to be, but professors are really helpful. They motivate us and help us feel calm when we take our first step into a new environment. Even during exams, especially in my first semester, they help a lot by providing study material and are always there to support us.
Other: I chose Political Science (Hons.) because it is a really great course. I suggest that anyone who opts for Political Science (Hons.) should definitely go through it, as it really helps in the future. By studying and understanding this course, you understand your surroundings and the global world from different perspectives of different scholars. The crowd is really good and always ready to help. The fests are very energetic, have a great vibe, and give you a true college life experience.

I would rate 9/10 for faculty, 8/10 for hostel, and 8/10 for infrastructure.
Placements: The placement cell of my college is not very good. We don't get many choices for placements or internships. B.Com (Hons) students get the opportunity to get placed, but not students in other courses. For internships or placements, we need to put in the effort.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of my college is not great. From the library to the hostel, everything here is well-maintained, neat, and clean. The canteen needs a bit of improvement. However, it's affordable and nice. The medical room is convenient for students.
Faculty: Daulat Ram College offers so many courses. Professors are very supportive of students. They prioritise studies over other things, which is a plus point. The course curriculum is updated on portals every year. It's based on the new curriculum, which is beneficial for students. Staff members are nice.
Other: In terms of studies, we can prioritise this college. Extracurricular activities still need so much improvement in sports and further inter-college opportunities. I would rate 6 out of 10 for extracurricular activities.

Placement is less. Students have less interest in jobs and more in competitive exams.
Placements: There are very few college placements; either you have to work hard by yourself. Generally, all social science courses have this problem across all colleges that they don't have placements. Roles are more in corporate or in political parties as advisors. There are government internships in which faculty helps, but for that also you have to work hard.
Infrastructure: The faculty for political science is good, and course infrastructure is as per DU. The library is also very good, there's a homely environment for girls. The hostel is excellent. The canteen is also fine, medical facilities are there, and sports and games are evolving. NCC is also there, which is exceptional.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, and the teaching quality is good for political science. The course curriculum is as per DU, and they make the syllabus, which definitely needs reforms. College exams are also fine, not that tough, and you can fetch good marks in PS. 7-8.5 CGPA is the average of our course.
Other: If you are willing to prepare for government exams like UPSC, this course will help you, as faculty is also good and helpful. You can have a good academic background with India's 26th top college, but definitely, the syllabus needs reforms. Like, you're studying theory in the first semester and thinkers in the seventh semester, it doesn't make sense. Fests are good, scholarships are provided under NEP, and student concessions are provided by the college. There are many different societies like debating, singing, dancing, a lot I can't even list.

Review of Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi.
Placements: Our college has a low placement rate, but it does not mean it has no placements. From what I have heard, the college offers promising placements, but they are rare. Since I'm in my first year, I don't know much about placements, but I know that placements start from the 2nd or 3rd year.
Infrastructure: The college has free Wi-Fi, and the college library also has free Wi-Fi. Our college has 3 canteens, and all classrooms are overall in nice condition. The only problem is the unavailability of AC in some classes, which makes it hard in the summer because of the summer heat.
Faculty: Teachers are super helpful. Faculty members are excellent in this college. Teachers are friendly and available. They are there to guide us whenever we need them. I think Daulat Ram has one of the best faculty members in the whole DU, and teachers are very friendly.
Other: This course aligns with my interests, so I chose this course. I am preparing for UPSC, so this course will help me in the future. Our college continuously organises events that are fun and good. There are department events, society events, and whole college events. The college also provides protection during events.
