On Admissions
Q:   Can I become a lawyer without a Law degree?
A:

No, you cannot become a lawyer without a Law degree. You mandatorily need to obtain degrees such as BA/BCom/BSc/BBA LLB or LLB in order to be a lawyer in India. To become a lawyer, one must first complete three-year or five-year LLB from a recognised university and possess degree certificate. Then, they must enrol themselves in local Bar Council of the concerned state and enrolled as an advocate. Within two years of the enrolment, they must appear and clear AIBE in order to be eligible to practise anywhere in India.

Good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: The placement is really good at our college, ranging from government companies to top-tier law firms. Our seniors are placed in all of them. The internship culture is really good. Students go for internships right from the very first year, which allows them to learn corporate culture from the very beginning.
Infrastructure: There is an ample amount of facilities available to students. We have a dedicated library of our own, apart from the central library present in the university. The library includes every book that a law student requires. Students have access to SCC Online, Manupatra, etc.
Faculty: Professors are exceptional. They really dedicate all their hard work to teaching students. The course curriculum aligns with the Judiciary syllabus, making it easier for students to attempt the judicial examination. There are a total of 10 semesters.

Review of Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia.
Placements: The placement percentage in my college is 50%. The highest package is 25 LPA and the lowest Package ranges from 4-6 LPA for freshers. The average package ranges from 8-12 LPA, depending on firm and role. Top recruiting companies like Khaitan & Co, SAM (Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas), CAM (Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas), AZB & Partners, Luthra & Luthra, and Trilegal visit the college for placements. The internship percentage is 50% here. Students get internships in tier-1, tier-2 law firms, corporate legal departments, NGOs, and litigation offices. The top roles offered are associate, legal researcher, corporate counsel, and litigation associate.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is available everywhere throughout the campus including the library and everywhere. Jamia has its own hostel providing very good facilities to students. It has its own health center named M.A. Ansari Health Centre for medical facilities. In the hostel, the quality of food is average.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful and supportive in nature. The quality of teaching is top-notch. The course curriculum is designed for students to help them out in their law careers properly. Semester exams are not too tough and it totally depends on the individual if they are dedicated then they do not have any problems.

Our college has great campus life and affordable fees.
Placements: The law department was not very active when it was concerned with placements. Till 2022, the placement and internships committee did not function at its best. Almost all students were left to find PPOs on their own and no significant help was provided from college.
Infrastructure: College Wi-Fi was there. There is no need for Labs. Classroom and library were also available. As far as the hostel is concerned, I have no knowledge because I lived in Delhi with my family and never resided there. As per my classmates' response, it seemed it was a great deal considering the fee was Rs. 15,000 per year for the hostel.
Faculty: The course curriculum was so wide and exhaustive that it offered real choices to law students to figure out what would work best for them to succeed later in life. Teachers were quite helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable except for 1 or 2 which happens almost everywhere.
Other: I wanted to do something different and that is why I chose a law course. Better placement opportunities can improve the course. Only 1 fest was organised by the law department during our course, i.e., Tabeer 2018.

Good infrastructure, good exposure, decent faculty, poor placements and curriculum.
Placements: The campus placement is almost nil. However, students manage to get placed at good places on their own. The highest package of last year was 16 LPA. Students get placed as associates in law firms or as law clerks. Some government organizations like ONGC also provide placement opportunities.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is decent with spacious classes installed with projectors. The faculty has different activity rooms like a conference hall, moot court room, committee room, students' lounge, library, etc. The campus is very beautiful. The hostels are also good. Each hostel has a gym facility, common room with sports equipment, mess, and reading hall.
Faculty: The teachers are qualified but not much helpful except a few. The course is very conventional and lacks practical skill improvement. The semester exams are pretty easy as there are mostly repetitive questions from the previous years. The passing percentage is almost 90%.

Faculty of Law JAMIA MILLIA ISLAMIA, New Delhi: A place where lawyers are built.
Placements: In the batch of 2024, 32 students were placed out of 67 students. Top recruiting companies were Shardul Amarchand MangalDas, Fox and Madal Associate, TriLegal, etc. 22 students out of 67 got opportunities in various fields such as Supreme Court, DSK Legal, AAA Legal, etc.
Infrastructure: Digital access to libraries such as Hein Online, Live Law, Bar and Bench, etc. The faculty is totally equipped with Wi-Fi. The classroom is ventilated. Mess and canteen food is good in quality with affordable prices and the quality of food is good. Sports complex with different sports facilities.
Faculty: The teachers are cooperative and the teaching style is very unique and good. This course makes the man ready for every field in law. Semester exams are held every 5 to 6 months and the pass percentage is 50%. Paper difficulty is moderate with a chance of getting pass.
Other: I want to join judicial service in the future and wish to serve people and society. There are a lot of events and a campus placement cell with companies coming on the ground.

The faculty of law in JMI is one of the best in the country; one must consider admission.
Placements: Approximately 30-40% of students get placement, and others generally opt for judiciary and litigation. Internship opportunities are plenty in Delhi, and the lowest package is 3 lakhs while the highest package is 18 lakhs. However, you have to grind for good placements. The average placement here is around 7 lakhs.
Infrastructure: The whole college campus has free Wi-Fi with excellent speed, and the facilities available in hostels depend upon the hostel allotted to you. Some hostels are good while others are very bad. The food quality is very good, and there are many paid canteens inside the university, so one can get food of their choice and refreshments. Additionally, the college is well connected by road and metro. The libraries here are large, spacious, and have many books.
Faculty: Teachers here are extremely knowledgeable and qualified with experience, and they teach well. However, the majority of faculty are guest and visiting faculty. Semester exams are lengthy, and one has to study pretty well to score good marks and grades. The pass percentage is almost 90%.
Other: I chose this course to obtain a law degree and take the judiciary exams, with the aim of trying to reform something in the field of law in India and helping needy people to get justice. Additionally, the college should build more student-friendly hostels and buildings with spacious classrooms and good connectivity with other faculties. More fests and festivals should also be celebrated to bring inclusiveness and harmony.
