JMI Entrance Exam 2026: Form Correction, Dates, Pattern, Syllabus, Eligibility, Question Paper

Jamia Millia Islamia University conducts JMI Entrance Exam once every year for admissions to UG and PG courses offered by the university along with PG Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Diploma, MPhil, PhD, and certificate courses under various faculties/ departments/ centres such as Engineering, Architecture & Planning, Hospitality & Travel, Animation, Mass Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, Languages, Commerce, Natural Sciences, Dentistry, Law, Fine Arts, Management Studies as well as Teaching & Education.

• For B.A. & Diploma: Admission to B.A. Diploma courses at JMI are offered based on CUET scores. The National Testing Agency conduct this entrance exam every year , separately for UG and PG courses. After appearing for CUET exam, candidates have to apply on JMI admission portal.
• For BTech: Admission to the B.Tech program of Jamia Millia Islamia is based on the final rank of JEE (Main) that is conducted by the National Test Agency (NTA). To be admitted to the BTech programme at JMI, candidates who submit the JEE Main online form must separately submit the Jamia Millia Islamia online application form at www.jmicoe.in.
• For B.Arch: Similarly, candidates need to clear the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture, fill out the admission form for JMI and enter the NATA application number in the JMI form. The rank list is published based on the final rank secured in NATA, strictly as per merit and JMI Admission Policy. During the counselling sessions, candidates must bring the NATA scorecard for admission to the B.Arch program at JMI.
• For BDS: Admissions to the B.D.S. program at JMI are based on the rank secured in NEET conducted by NTA. Candidates must choose Jamia Millia Islamia with the appropriate reservation category in the NEET application form. No separate form is required to be filled out at JMI or its website by the candidates. 
• For Ph.d: The schedule of admission tests for the Ph.D. program is notified separately. 

Note: Jamia Millia Islamia in collaboration with the University of Delhi, also offers MSc (Mathematics Education) programme under Meta University Concept.

Students who wish to study UG, PG, PG Diploma, PG Certificate, or PhD courses at Jamia Millia Islamia must know important highlights about JMI entrance exam. For 2026-2027, JMI will release all notifications and updates on its official website - admission.jmi.ac.in. Aspirants can check some key details about the exam from table below.

The JMI admit card for entrance exam conducted by Jamia Millia Islamia will be made available at Admission Portal. JMI entrance exam admit card is a mandatory document to be carried by students to their exam centres. If a candidate fails to bring the admit card, they won't be allowed to take the exam. Candidates who will successfully complete the JMI application process will be issued hall ticket.

JMI will inform about the release of hall ticket via SMS on the registered number. The JMI entrance exam admit card is released a week before the exam dates. For 2026, the JMI admit cards will be issued starting from April 17. Once the candidates download their admit cards, they have to take a printout and paste their self-attested passport-size recent coloured photograph in the space provided. Candidates have to carry two copies of their admit card to the allotted test centre as they are required to submit one to the invigilator at the time of the exam. Candidates must also check the instructions and guidelines given on their admit card.

The JMI Entrance Exam Pattern is prescribed by Jamia Millia University each year. According to pattern for Mass Communication, candidates need to attempt 200 questions in 3 hours. The JMI entrance question paper will include multiple choice questions. There will be no subjective questions. The entrance exam for admission in courses offered at AJK Mass Communication Research Centre contains two sections.

• Section A comprises objective types questions from National and international political issues/personalities, General knowledge, Film, Television and other media, Art, Literature and culture etc.
• Section B comprises essay-type long answers that reflect the candidates' critical understanding of contemporary issues and the media.

This paper also evaluates candidates' skills in visualization, story-telling, and their creative aptitude. Aspirants who clear the written entrance exam are eligible to appear for the interview and portfolio submission round.

Candidates must note that the test pattern for different programmes may vary. But, the basic structure like the mode and the time duration remains the same across courses.

• Admissions to BTech/ BArch programmes at JMI are based on final rank of JEE Main, conducted by National Testing Agency. Check JEE Main Syllabus.

After the JMI entrance exam is conducted, Jamia Millia Islamia releases the JMI answer keys and response sheet to candidates who appeared for the test. Candidates can compare their responses with the JMI answer key and calculate their JMI 2026 scores. The answer key and candidates’ response sheets are made available online on the admission result page within five working days after the JMI entrance exam.

Candidates also get a window to raise challenges against the provisional answer key. Challenges against the JMI answer key can be submitted within 48 hours after the answer key is released. Candidates will have to pay INR 200 per challenged question. Jamia will not entertain any grievance received without fee payment. After all challenges have been received and considered, a final answer key is published by JMI.
