B.E. in Computer Engineering - Batch of 2028

Lack of practical knowledge, and still an old curriculum, strict attendance criteria.
Placements: The first batch from computer engineering will be passing in 2026 only, so after that, we can get ideas about it. However, there are no expectations from on-campus placement. Some of our seniors are preparing, but not all. There were no faculty members for the computer department earlier; 2 faculty members have come recently.
Infrastructure: Honestly, my favorite place is the library. Other than the fact that you can find all the books related to your branch, you can read there peacefully or prepare there for competitive exams. You can also borrow the books. In the library, PCs are also available so that any student can use them if needed. Labs are also well structured, and all the required equipment is available, as it is a government college, but some of the equipment is very old and not in a condition to be used. Mess is not available in our college; you have to buy tiffins from outside. The canteen is average.
Faculty: Only 2 faculty members are there in the computer department to date, and they are managing all the things; EC faculty members take our lecture. Honestly, our college didn't prepare or support students to be industry-ready; they are focusing on gaining marks more. Semester exams are conducted by GTU and are of a moderate level.
Other: If you come to this college, you should keep in mind that you have to do hard work by yourself to achieve something big; you cannot depend on the college. I think attendance criteria should be removed because we have to attend all the unnecessary classes too, because of which we are not able to focus on what matters for our careers.

Easy for the future students to choose their dream college.
Placements: 25% of students get a good package of placement, and there are good placements in chemical and electrical branches. I guess the highest package is 8.5 Lacs something, the lowest is 2.5 Lacs something, and the average package is 4 Lacs something, I guess. Every student gets an internship in any company because it is compulsory for all.
Infrastructure: Our department gives free Wi-Fi and a common room for girls, which only girls are allowed to use. Classrooms are clean, and labs are good. Our hostel provides good rooms, and they also provide a cooler and geyser on every floor. In every room, there are 3 beds, 3 tables, 3 chairs, and 3 desks. They give permission to go out from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm.
Faculty: Our faculty is helpful and kind. They all have good knowledge and qualifications. Their teaching quality is great. Yes, our curriculum is relevant. Yes, it makes students industry-ready. Our semester exams are tough, but they are useful for preparing for university exams. The pass percentage is an average of 50 to 60%.
Other: In our college, we are the 2nd batch of computer engineering. In our college, our course faculty is only 2, but other branch faculty also teaches us the subjects, and they give their best for that.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for B.Tech at GEC?
ShikshaGPT says
A:

The eligibility criteria for B.Tech programs typically include the following requirements:

  • Candidates must have passed the class 12 exam from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects.
  • A minimum of 50% marks in the class 12 exam is required, although there is a relaxation of 5% for students from reserved categories, such as SC/ST.

In addition to these general criteria, specific colleges or universities may have their own additional requirements, so it is advisable to check the particular institution's official website or admission guidelines for detailed information.

Q:   Which has better placement at GEC, B.Tech in ECE or B.Tech in CSE?
ShikshaGPT says
A:

The placement prospects for B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) can vary from college to college. However, in general, CSE tends to have slightly better placement opportunities compared to ECE, especially in top institutions. According to a report on placement rates, average salary at IITs, NITs, and other BTech colleges, Computer Science and Engineering is in high demand, and students from top institutions with a BTech in CSE tend to receive the best offers. The information also indicates that about 94% of registered CSE students secured a job, highlighting the strong placement performance of CSE graduates. While specific data for ECE may vary, the general trend suggests that CSE may have an edge in terms of placements.
