    On Highlights
Q:   Which rank is required for a general candidate in the WBJEE to get a BTech at the Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata?
Q:   How is CGPA calculated in Heritage Institute of Technology?
    A:
Every semester there will be 5-6 subjects and their labs. Each subject will carry some credit. Now, if one gets for example 85/100 in a subject then he gets 9 points in that subject. Suppose that subject had 3 credits then Credit points for that subject will be 9x3=27 points. This way all subjects points are calculated and then added. Let as suppose on adding all subjects one gets 200 points. And on adding all subject credits it comes around 22. Then dividing 200 by 22 will give you the CGPA and in this case it will be 9.09 CGPA. For 91-100 it is 10 points for 81-90 it is 9 points for 71-80 it is 8 points for 61-70 it is 7 points for 51-60 it is 6 points for 41-50 it is 5 points below 40 it is 2 points and fail.
Q:   Are there any PGs and hostels available close to Heritage Institute of Technology?
    A:
The closest PG available to Heritage Institute of Technology is R-Mondal's Boys' Hostel which is 1-2min walking distance from the college GATE. There is another hostel named MPC which is also near college GATE just 2-3min walking distance. Now most of the boys go to Modern Boys' Hostel which is 10-15 mins walk from college. Also, you can go to RR Plot which is also famous among the college students. RR Plot is a bit far from college, but it is good if you want groceries and other things nearby.
Q:   What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at Heritage Institute of Technology?
    A:
Try to interact with seniors of your branch. Although they will contact the class and be active in club activities. Start coding early as it will fetch you decent placements. Try to create a group of friends that share common interests in a field and participate in those activities. The college has a lot to offer just grab the opportunities and you are all set.

    Overall review of my college.
Placements: In my course this year, 57% of the students got placed. Top recruiters were Infosys, Accenture, and some other mass recruiter companies, mainly. The highest package that was offered was LPA, and the lowest was 2 LPA. Almost every student gets an internship in their 3rd year.
Infrastructure: First of all, there is no on-campus hostel available for boys. There are some hostels for boys outside the campus, and all are in very poor condition. Wi-Fi is available in all the hostels, but the food they provide is not worth it. There are multiple sports and games opportunities, though, like interdepartmental sports and all.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, highly qualified, and knowledgeable. If you can't understand Bangla, then you will face a little difficulty, but not much. Exams are not tough. You can do well in exams by just studying for 1 week or so. In 1st year, most of the things that they are going to teach you won't make you industry-ready, but they are important for your fundamentals.

Review of Heritage Institute of Technology.
Placements: Placements in our college are not very good, but average. Many students did not get placed on campus. Many of them get placed. Many big and small companies approach our college, like TCS, IBM, Deloitte, etc. 50 percent of students get placed. The highest package offered is 12 LPA, and the average package offered is 6 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our college does not have a hostel inside the college campus for boys, but for girls, it is inside the campus. For boys, there is only a hostel for 28 1st year boys. The cook is not so good. The college does not provide any facilities.
Faculty: Faculty members are good and very helpful. The course curriculum for college students is not good. Everything should be done on our own. Exams are good and are held after 6 months every year as a semester. The paper is not very tough. They are easy and are from PYQs. The availability of courses is pretty good. There are so many courses.
Other: No such events have happened after my admission. There are no fests or freshers. Connectivity is good. Auto and buses are available for transportation. Scholarships are also provided for local people.

I am satisfied with the good environment and faculty members.
Placements: 75 percent of students got placed in our college. There is a maximum placement rate in the mechanical branch. The highest and average salary packages are offered in the AI ML branch. The highest package offered ranges between 20-25 LPA. But some students also got a package of 1 crore per annum off-campus.
Infrastructure: Labs are good. Wi-Fi works well, but sometimes it's slow due to heavy use. The library contains books related to our courses, but many other books are also there. Girls' hostels are on campus, but boys' hostels are outside of campus. A bus is provided for hostel students. The canteen is good, and the medical facilities are also appreciable.
Faculty: I am a first-semester student. So I have no idea about the semester exams, but as per seniors, it is approximately between medium and hard. If anyone pushes themselves, then they can achieve whatever they want. The college provides everything that they need. It's upon them. I don't know much about our core faculty members, but as per my experience, some faculty members whom I got during my first semester are really good, and some are really inexperienced.
Other: Everyone has opportunities in different fields, whether it's sports, extracurricular activities, entrepreneurship, or studies. No doubt it's a really good private college, but we need to push ourselves.

I am moderately satisfied with the infrastructure.
Placements: 57 percent of students got placements in our course. The highest package offered is 20 LPA, and the average package offered is 4 LPA. Wipro and TCS are the top companies for our course in this college. 57 percent of students got internships at Tata Consultancy Services Private Limited. I don't know about the top roles that are offered at my college.
Infrastructure: There is no Wi-Fi. Our class is on the 5th floor, so we don't get Wi-Fi from there. The library is good, silent, and clean for studying. It has a wide variety of books. Labs are average and clean. Classrooms are clean with a few benches.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They are knowledgeable and well-qualified for their teaching. The teaching quality is very sufficient. The course curriculum is relevant, but as this is my first year, I don't know whether it can make students industry-ready or not. For me, semester exams are not that difficult, but I don't know about others. I am in the first year, so I don't know the pass percentage. Faculty members are good, and I am satisfied with them.

The best thing about the college is teachers who support us in everything.
Placements: The highest package offered ranges from 12-15 LPA. The lowest package offered ranges from 3.5-4 LPA (typical for mass recruiters. The average package offered ranges from 5-6 LPA. Good students will have to prepare for off-campus if they want more packages. I recommend students prepare for off-campus placements. About 40 percent of students got internships.
Infrastructure: The campus is the best among private colleges in Kolkata. It has an AC library and laboratories for departments like ECE and CSE. Classrooms are well-organised, and most lack air conditioning. Wi-Fi is not good on the campus. The canteen is really good. Sports and games are well played.
Faculty: Teachers are really good and supportive. They are always ready to help us. They even provide their personal number and are always ready for revision classes. Semester exams are not that tough. The pass percentage is 75 percent or above. Surprise tests are conducted, so if we miss the college, the test is missed. If we are not able to give some practical exams, then we can inform the college, and they will help us with it and retake our exam. Faculty members are highly qualified and helpful for competitive exams like GATE, though they strictly enforce a 75 percent attendance policy and frequent tests.

In short, if students want to do a master's, then they should join this college.
Placements: In my course, about 68-70 percent of students get placed. The highest package offered is 12 LPA. The average package ranges from 5-6 LPA. The lowest package offered ranges from 3-4 LPA. The top recruiting companies for our course are Tata, Infosys, Wipro, etc. Students get internships mainly from tech-based companies like Tata and Infosys. Some students get internships at IIT and IIM. Some students get internships in research programs for many startups. Roles offered in my course are analyst and data management.
Infrastructure: In classrooms and the library, the infrastructure and facilities are decent and above average. It does not provide hostels for boys, but girls' hostels are quite good. It has a good mess and good sports facilities.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and qualified. Many teachers are PhD holders, and many are post-graduates from universities such as Jadavpur University and Calcutta University. Senior teachers who are HODs are well-qualified from IIT and IIM. The first year courses are basic engineering, and they do not have such an impact on industrial growth, but from the second year onwards, subjects that are made to study in college are totally for our placements and industrial growth. It's quite difficult to pass semester exams, but even if we have attended classes properly and listened to the words of teachers, we can pass examinations.
Other: I chose this course because of its growing opportunities and the opportunity to have a decent salary after completing this course. The thing that I wish to improve about the course is that in the first and second semesters, the basic engineering that we are taught in that course should also include some coding and data analysis skills. To be honest, we will not encounter such a big event, but events related to tech happen on a regular basis. Small fests also take place here. It is not so big, but it is decent. On the basis of semester results, we will get scholarships.
