I highly recommend IHM Chennai to those who are aspiring to be a hotelier.
Placements: 99% of students are placed. A few of us opted for higher study. The highest package was 5.4 LPA and the lowest was 2.4 LPA. Top brands Taj, Oberoi, and ITC come to recruit. 100% of students got internships in different companies. Top role offered in our course is a management trainee which allows us to cut short the journey of 5 years to 2 years.
Infrastructure: The college has free Wi-Fi with beautiful classrooms. We have a library as well so you need not buy books. Hostel life is the best. Everything is just way too perfect because there I met a lot of people and made friends. I learned how to survive with minimal resources.
Faculty: All the teachers are Ph.D. holders so, of course, they are knowledgeable. As a matter of fact, it does make students ready for the industry providing all the knowledge and skills. The internship plays a crucial role. Semester exams are easy to moderate and the passing percentage was 40%.
Other: I had chosen this course because initially I was inclined towards the kitchen, I love cooking, and I wanted to explore a new place and people from different cultures.

Real side of IHM Chennai.
Placements: 100% were placed for those who really wanted to sit in an interview. It doesn't matter who you are and how much you know Eugene sir, will get all the possible companies across India to get you placed. This year the highest package ranges from 7 LPA - 8 LPA. The lowest ranges from 3 LPA - 4 LPA. The average package ranges from 5 LPA - 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are ITC Hotels, Taj Hotels, Leela Palace, Hyatt Regency, Lalit Suri Hotels, Mariott Hotels, Apparel Group, Aditya Birla Fashion, Reliance, and many more. 100% of students got placed in all the companies which I mentioned over there. Roles offered are FOS, FNBS, CDP, and MS hosts.
Infrastructure: In my college, we have all the practical labs like separate kitchen for all the years and courses, front office labs, housekeeping labs, and restaurants for food beverages service. Also, we have theory classrooms with projectors. There is a library with all the books we need. We have Wi-Fi, playground, hostel facility, dining hall for students' lunch, cafeteria, auditorium, and much more.
Faculty: Teachers are too knowledgeable, helpful, and qualified. You can assume that every single faculty member has won at least two or three awards and some won seven and more for teaching. Teachers are absolutely awesome in terms of knowledge, they know every single thing with deep, and they are just super fine in their department. Course curriculum is totally relevant. It definitely makes students ready for the industry. Semester exams are little difficult to pass but if you do regular classes you will find it easy. Pass percentage is 33%.
Other: I chose this course because of money, hospitality, and a great career, as in this course you can have a great career if you are a hard-working person. Things that can be improved are to stop forcing students to do things on time if they are not able to do also do placements after removing those students who already got selected in better places. We do have food festival, annual day function, Pongal, Ganesh Chaturthi, Holi, Onam, farewell, and fresher party. Campus crowd is huge as every year there are 300 student seats and that used to fill up totally. Campus is surrounded by the forest.

It provided good placements in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Placements: All students get placed as per the student's choice of company. The salary offered ranges from Rs. 20,000-40,000 per month, which depends on the initial position while joining. Top companies like Taj, ITC, IHG, Marriott, Hilton, etc., visit the college for campus recruitment. It is compulsory to take an internship in the 2nd year, where students choose the company and property.
Infrastructure: There are air-conditioned labs for all respective departments. The library lets us issue books by submitting our ID card for the meantime. There is one auditorium. Wi-Fi is available in the college. The examination hall is huge to accommodate the whole batch. AC and laundry services are not available in the hostel.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is relevant to those people who eagerly want to join the hospitality sector. Semester exams are quite easy if we study the minimum requirement. That doesn't mean we can pass without studying. Trust me, there are so many terminologies that we won't be able to understand if we come across them for the first time during our exams.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to join an airline. The best thing about this course is that it made me able to work in a high-pressure environment.

The hostel mess food was decent, not bad, but it has a strong south Indian influence.
Faculty: IHM Chennai has a good faculty. They are especially good at tutoring in practical classes, where they pay attention to each individual. The best faculty member was Mathews Chief, who was very knowledgeable and able to teach the students. There is one midterm exam in each semester, and a final exam after the completion of each semester. In addition, you have to take IGNOU exams after each year, as the university degree is provided by IGNOU.
Other: IHM Chennai is a hospitality management school that offers a B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. The curriculum covers all aspects of the hospitality industry, including kitchen, front office, food and beverage services, and housekeeping.
