As in every college, there is something that you will not like, but you have to take.
Placements: In my branch this year in 2025, 93.4 % of students got placed in various job roles, with the highest as 25 LPA, average, and median is approximately 9 LPA. Top recruiting companies in the core are JSW, Vedanta, Tata Steel, etc. A few students from my department got internships as well. Top roles offered in the core field and in the noc core as SDE, etc. As most of the students got placed in my branch, it is a good thing when we talk about CSE ECE, they have really good packages this year. 8 students got 80 LPA job offers from Apple India, mainly from the CSE branch.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is well maintained here at NIT Durgapur, I must say, all facilities such as Wi-Fi, labs, classroom, library, and more than what we expect. In my hostel, we got three-seater rooms, but they are spacious and you will definitely love your big room. Washrooms are also well maintained, they keep them clean on a regular basis. Water cooler on each floor, you will have both options for normal water and cold water. Mess food is good, seriously, I personally feel it is good, you can eat it easily. If you are a non-vegetarian, then congrats.
Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable and definitely they are well-qualified. The course curriculum is relevant, and teachers help us in every aspect. As we talk about semester exams, they are neither easy nor hard if you prepare well, even if you have a few days of exam, you will get a decent score. Pass percentage is, as usual 35%.
Other: I got enrolled in the metallurgical and material engineering branch because my rank was that high only. But I am satisfied with my course, and Durgapur is known for industry, so for our branch, it is a plus point. All things are running smoothly, no need to improve. We have a cultural fest, Aarohan, which is held in the month of October.
Is NIT Durgapur private or government?
