Like all the other central government-funded Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), admission is completely based on the All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main, and all seats are filled through the JoSAA counselling process.

IIITDM Kancheepuram offers a BTech+ M.Tech degree together as a dual degree lasting for five years in the Computer Science and Engineering. The dual degree is spread across ten semesters.
