IIM Bangalore Admission and Application Process 2026
The IIM Bangalore admissions are entrance based. Indian Institute of Management Bangalore India accepted entrance exams are CAT, GATE and UGC NET. Follow the below steps to know about the IIM Bangalore admission process:
- Application Process: Candidates who meet the IIM Bangalore eligibility can go through the CAT application process for PGP admission and on the official website of IIM Bangalore for other courses' admission. For other courses, visit the official website - https://www.iimb.ac.in/ and apply as per course requirements.
- Selection Process : Candidates are selected for MBA courses based on their Class 10, Class 12, CAT qualifying and CAT final cutoff are called for further selection rounds, such as the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. After completion of the selection rounds, a category-wise merit list is released based on the Final Composite Score. Scores from four tests are accepted for admission to the PGPEM programme — CAT, GMAT, GRE, and the IIMB Test. At the time of application, the candidate must specify the test opted for.
- Secure Admission: Once the seat allocation is done, candidates can confirm admission by paying the admission charges.

- The last date to apply for Round 1 application is Oct 22, 2026. For Round 2, the application dates are Oct 24 - Jan 27, 2027.

For PGP Application:
- Applicants seeking admission to the two-year PGP must meet the IIM Bangalore MBA eligibility and appear in the Common Admission Test (CAT). Those who are interested in seeking admission to the 2026-26 batch were able to apply online and register themselves on www.iimcat.ac.in during the CAT registration process.
- In general, during CAT registration process, the candidates must apply for PGP of IIM Bangalore by selecting the option available in the online registration form. The application fee for CAT (General/ OBC category) is INR 2,400. There is no additional cost included in applying for IIM Bangalore.
For courses other than PGP Application:

It is not possible to join IIM Bangalore directly after Class 12 since the institute mostly offers postgraduate and doctoral level programmes in the field of Management. However, a student who has completed his/ her Class 12 can complete the final graduation and then look out for admission to IIM-B.
The institute offers MBA, Executive MBA, and other courses at PG, doctoral and certificate level courses in the field of Management. Common Admission Test or CAT is a national-level management aptitude test conducted by IIM for admission to MBA. Each year, over 2.3 Lacs candidates take the CAT exam, which is accepted by the IIMs and top MBA colleges in India. It is important to apply strict selection criteria to identify the top candidates among them. That's why, the CAT exam is tougher than other MBA entrance exams. Even though the syllabus of CAT is the same as that of other MBA entrance exams, the question paper set by the IIM faculty always has tough questions. The PGPEM is a two-year weekend MBA course for working professionals. It is designed for working mid-level and senior executives with a minimum of four years of work experience after graduationThe programme is designed in a way that the classes are scheduled on weekends over two years, enabling working professionals to attend, without taking a break in their careers. Graduates with a minimum of 50% aggregate and at least four years of work experience after graduation are eligible to apply for the same.
Post Graduate Programme or PGP offered by IIM Bangalore is a two-year full-time residential course. Candidates pursuing PGP from IIM Bangalore are awarded an MBA degree. The programme lasts for six trimesters, spread over two years, with a summer project inclusive.
