IIT Jammu MTech Eligibility & Highlights 2025

IIT Jammu MTech course is offered across different specialisations. Some of the offered course specialisations are Data Science, VLSI Design, etc. Admission to this course is based on a GATE score followed by COAP counselling. There are multiple steps included in the IIT Jammu admissions, such as GATE registration, appearing for the exam, release of cutoff, and COAP counselling. The steps to be followed for IIT Jammu MTech course admissions are:

STEP 1: IIT Jammu MTech Application Process 2025

Candidates willing to apply to IIT Jammu for MTech are required to register at the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (https://coap.iitb.ac.in) and a COAP registration number is mandatory for filling out the application form on the IIT Jammu application portal. Admission offers are made via the COAP portal. Hence, the applicants are responsible for the information provided.

The category-wise application fee for GATE is given below:

After registering on the COAP website, candidates must also apply on the IIT Jammu website https://eg.iitjammu.ac.in/pgapplication. The application fee per department (non-refundable) is INR 300 for General/ Gen-EWS/ OBC category candidates and INR 200 for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates. For the self-sponsored category, however, the application fee (non-refundable) is INR 500.

STEP 2: Appear for Exam, Cutoff Release & Counselling

The applicants need to take the GATE exam and secure a good score. Shortlisted candidates need to take a written test and take part in the interview round. Candidates who meet the cutoff criteria need to participate in COAP Counselling for seat allotment.

STEP 3: Admission Confirmation

Getting an IIT itself is a big thing.

Placements: Almost all students get placed in our course. The average package is 14 LPA and the highest is 50 LPA. Top roles are in Data Science, ML, and software development. Top recruiting companies like Qualcomm, Intel, Nvidia, Amazon, and Silicon Labs. Almost the batch gets internships. There is nothing hard to get.

Infrastructure: Talking about the infrastructure, it is one of the best due to the new emerging IIT. Hostels are the best I have ever seen in my life with so many facilities, night canteens, and a good mess. Medical facilities are also good. A proper gaming area building is there, along with a huge ground for football.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They are well-qualified and have a lot of experience. What they teach is not able to get on YouTube and sometimes not even in books. They make us industry-ready. Exams are quite intuitive. It's not like you study everything and go for the exam. It's still possible that you won't be able to solve it.

Is it expensive to study BTech at IIT Jammu?

IIT Jammu total tuition fee for the BTech course is INR 8 lakh. The total tuition fee for the M.Tech course is INR 80,000. The fee for the MSc course is INR 26,000. Expensive or not, depends on person to person. Those students who find the fee expensive must apply for the scholarships.

Yes, you will get CSE at IIT Jammu with a JEE Advanced cutoff rank of 6000 if you belong to the General AI quota.
