IIT Gandhinagar MTech Eligibility & Highlights 2026
MTech is a two-year course offered at IIT Gandhinagar in eight specialisations. Some of these specialisations include, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc. Besides MTech, the institute also offers Work & Study MTech programmes in the same eight specialisations. Work and Study MTech is a three-year course. Admission to both MTech and Work & Study MTech is based on the GATE scores. Candidates without a GATE score can appear for a written test conducted by the institute followed by a Personal Interview round for final admission. IIT Gandhinagar MTech admission is entrance-based. Offered across eight specialisations, admission to MTech at IIT Gandhinagar is subject to a valid score obtained by students in the GATE exam. Check out the eligibility, fee and selection criteria for this below:
- Eligibility: A pass in BE/ BTech/ MSc or equivalent in appropriate branches with a minimum of 55% aggregate or 5.5 on a 10-point scale (50% aggregate for SC/ ST) OR BTech graduates from the IITs with CGPA/ CPI of 8.0 or above (on a scale of 10) are eligible to admission without GATE
- Selection: GATE/ Institute-level written test + PI

Yes, IIT Gandhinagar conducts a Personal Interview round. Candidates can be asked to appear for the institute-level entrance test. In order to apply, all applications must fill the form online. Candidates wanting to apply for more than one specialisation need to submit separate application for each specialisation. After successful submission of form, students receive an application number and a link to download the application form.
Yes, non-GATE candidates must appear for the institute level entrance test. However, all candidates are required to appear for the PI round for final selection. In addition to this, BTech graduates from the IITs with CGPA/ CPI of 8.0 or above (on a scale of 10) are eligible to get admission to M.Tech at IIT Gandhinagar without GATE. All applications for IIT Gandhinagar MTech course must be submitted online. Candidates willing to apply for more than one specialisation must submit separate application forms for each specialisation.
