IIT Patna JAM Cutoff was concluded with the release of the Round 4 cutoff list. For 2025, the MSc cutoff ranged between 513 and 699 for the General AI category students. If you are not eligible for MSc admission at IIT Patna, due to its competitive cutoff rank, you can also consider IIT Bhilai with a lenient cutoff range of 523 and 708 for MSc admission.

IIT Patna cut off 2023 for JAM 2023 Third Admission List, the opening and closing ranks for MSc Chemistry are 441 and 613, respectively. Tabulated below are IIT JAM 2023 Opening Ranks (ORs) and Closing Ranks (CRs) for various MSc specialisations offered by IIT Patna: 

IIT Patna placement 2026 is ongoing and will continue till May 2026. At the end of Phase 1 placement 2025-26, BTech placement rate was 54.34%. 

Earlier, the placement rate at IIT Patna stood at 77.92% and 61.01% for BTech and  MTech during placements 2024.

The minimum marks required in JEE Mains to qualify for JEE Advanced 2026 will be announced with the JEE Main 2026 final result after session 2 exams. Last year's minimum marks in JEE Mains to qualify for JEE Advanced were:

Candidates aiming for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) need to meet these cutoff marks in JEE Mains to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.

After JEE session 2 is completed, only those candidates who are aiming for IITs need to start preparing for JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main. Those who are above the 98th percentile should start preparing for JEE Advanced as soon as possible. Those below this, between the 95th and 98th percentile, should focus on attempting more mock tests and previous year question papers so that they have a better chance of clearing JEE Advanced

Candidates must complete Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with a minimum of 75% aggregate to apply for BTech programme at IIT Patna. Aspirants also need to pass JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced to get a seat in the BTech course.

The duration of integrated MSc courses offered by IIT Patna is usually five years. The MSc integrated courses combine the curriculum of both MSc and PhD courses of the same specialisation at IIT Patna.

During this duration, candidates need to complete the curriculum of both courses as well as complete the internships and college projects. More details regarding MSc integrated courses can be found above.

The highest package offered during IIT Patna placements 2026 was INR 117 LPA. During the placement drive 2024, it was INR 144 LPA. BTech and MTech average package at the end of Phase 1 placement 2025-26 was INR 25.82 LPA and 16.2 LPA.

Earlier, as per the placement brochure 2024-25, the average package offered during IIT Patna placements 2024 for BTech, M.Tech and MSc programs stood at around INR 17 LPA, INR 15 LPA and INR 7 LPA, respectively.

The course-wise average package offered over the past three years during IIT Patna placements is presented below:

BTech and BS courses completely based on JoSAA following an appearance by a candidate for JEE Main and JEE Advanced examination, however for other courses MSc and M.Tech based on GATE, IIT JAM through COAP and CCMN counselling and the seats under PhD course on appearance basis on admission test organized by institute itself. After the test is conducted, IIT Patna publishes a merit list containing the names of students selected for PhD. 

For BTech and BS, the admission process is completely conducted by JoSAA after students appear for their JEE Main and JEE Advanced exam. For other courses, such as MSc and MTech, admission is subject to GATE and IIT JAM followed by COAP and CCMN Counselling. For PhD, students are required to appear for the admission test conducted by the institute for seat allocation. After the test, IIT Patna releases a merit list with the names of students shortlisted for PhD.
