IIT Patna MSc course is a PG level course that is offered in full-time for a duration of two years. MSc at IIT Patna is available in three specialisations which are MSc in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. IIT Patna MSc admission dates 2026 are inline with the dates of IIT JAM and GATE. The selection of candidates will be based on the scores obtained in either one of the aforementioned entrance exams. No, IIT Patna does not offer direct admission to the MSc programme. Students planning to seek admission to IIT Patna MSc programmes must apply for a Joint Admission Test, known as IIT JAM.
IIT JAM is a national-level entrance examination conducted to provide admissions in MSc and other related postgraduate courses provided across IITs. Interested candidates can apply for JAM 2025 using the JAM Online Application Processing System, or JOAPS, only.

Yes, IIT Patna does offer financial support to its PhD students. However, candidates of the self-financed category of PhD courses are not offered any financial assistance at IIT Patna.
