Candidates who wish to apply to the M.Tech programme must have a valid GATE score. Students are screened based on their CGPI in BE/BTech and GATE scores during COAP counselling. Yes, IIT Patna offers good placements to its MTech students. IIT Patna offers good placements in MTech program. MTech highest package 2026 is not released as of now, however, the average package recorded during phase 1 placements 2026 was 16.2 LPA.

Earlier, according to the placement brochure 2024-25, the average package offered during IIT Patna placements 2024 MTech program stood at around INR 15 LPA. The MTech placement rate in 2024 was 61.01%. MTech average package offered in 2023 and 2022 stood at INR 15.77 and INR 14.99 LPA, respectively.

Earlier, the placement rate at IIT Patna stood at 77.92% and 61.01% for BTech and  MTech during placements 2024.

IIT Patna offers BTech, MTech, MSc, and PhD programmes through its 10 departments. IIT Patna offers four-year BTech programmes at the undergraduate level in 11 specialisations. A two-year MTech programme in 15 specialisations and two-year MSc programmes in three specialisations at the postgraduate level. All 10 departments of IIT Patna also offer a three-year PhD programme. The mode of IIT Patna admission is online. Admission to BTech is based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced scores, followed by JoSSA counseling. Admission to MTech and MSc is subject to GATE and IIT JAM, respectively.

IIT Patna provides BSc in Computer Science and Data Analytics, which is a good course. The course syllabus is deisgned as per industry standards and provides good placements to students. 

IIT Patna gives MCM scholarships to meritorious and needy students. A UG student or a 2-year MSc programme student can receive the MCM scholarship. For new entrants (BTech/MSc 1st year), their SPI will be the criterion for their merit. The minimum SPI is 6.50 and there is no "F" grade in any of the courses in the first semester. For students in their 2nd year (BTech/MSc) onwards, the minimum CPI is 6.50 and there is no "F" grade. For all category students, the annual income of a student's parents or guardians and his family from all sources in the preceding financial year must not exceed INR 4.50 lakh.
