IIM Calcutta MBA Highlights 2026
IIM Calcutta MBA is offered as the flagship course at postgraduate level in the field of management. However, MBA Executive at IIM Calcutta is also offered for working professionals for a duration of one year. Both MBA courses are offered in full-time mode only for the duration of two years. The two-year MBA course is spread across six terms. Candidates seeking admission to the PG programme are also required to meet the basic eligibility criteria and clear the CAT cutoff. - Eligibility: Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or have completed a professional degree (CA/ CS/ ICWA/ Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI)) with a minimum aggregate of 50% (45% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD).
- Selection Process: Applicants must appear and clear the CAT exam for admission in the MBA course. Following this, they need to qualify other selection rounds such as: WAT, Group Discussion, Personal Interview, Class 10 marks, Class 12 marks, Academic/Gender Diversity and Work Experience.
- Application Mode: The application process is conducted in online mode. Candidates seeking admission to the MBA course must apply online via CAT 2026. The application fee is INR 2,700 (General, EWS and NC-OBC) and INR 1,350 (SC, ST and PwD).
- Fees: The total course fee for IIM Joka Kolkata flagship MBA course ranges between INR 25 lakh- INR 27 lakh.
- Cutoff: Considering the past years' trends, IIM Calcutta CAT cutoff is generally in the range of 85 percentile for General Category. The actual CAT percentile for the institute is not released publicly and is accessible to students using their registered ID and password.

No, IIM Calcutta cannot get into MBA courses without appearing CAT first. CAT is a mandatory entrance exam and it is conducted every year for admissions into all MBA courses offered by this institute.

No, IIM Calcutta does not accept direct admission from any candidate for its Executive MBA course. Candidates are required to appear in GMAT before they are selected for EMBA course.
After that, candidates are further evaluated through a GD and PI round before final admission is granted.
IIM Calcutta is responsible for covering 60% of the total PGPEX-VLM course curriculum. Remaining 40% of this course is covered by both IIT Kanpur and Madras in equal percentages. Candidates will cover this course in eight terms in 1170 total classes.
IIM Calcutta MBA admission has not been opened yet for 2026. Generally, candidates can expect second week of September to be MBA deadline at IIM Calcutta. This is because its accepted entrance exam; CAT is usually scheduled to close registrations by then.
IIM Calcutta has only mentioned accepting GMAT score for admission into EMBA courses.

The total tuition fee of MBA at IIM Calcutta is INR 25 lakhs to INR 27 lakhs. The two-year course is divided into six terms. The total MBA fee can be paid in 6 term-wise installments (one payment before the start of each term across year 1 and year 2). Canididates also need to pay a caution money of INR 20,000 for the flagship MBA programme. It is deposited as a one-time fee paid during registration. It is refundable. Candidates can avail several scholarships for financial assistance with IIM Calcutta fees. However, student loans will be only option for candidates who are unable to secure any scholarships.

IIM Calcutta admission process starts with CAT registration. Candidates need to register and select MBA programme at IIM Calcutta in CAT application and appear in CAT exam. After CAT exam is over, IIM Calcutta will begin shortlisting of candidates based on its result. These candidates will be called for a personal interview round followed by a written ability test. Once these evaluations are concluded, every candidate is given a final score based on following factors:

Yes, any candidate who wishes to apply for MBAEx at IIM Calcutta must have a work experience of minimum 5 years. This experience will be counted in financial year meaning, candidates must have this experince on March 31st when they are applying for IIM Calcutta Executive MBA admission.

Getting into IIM Calcutta is extremy difficult. The institute accepts admisison based on entrance exams like CAT and GMAT. Students must qualify the entrance exams to get admission and it followed by the personal interview.
