Barely Recommended: Poor College.
Placements: The student strength was quite appreciable; however, the placements promised were never guaranteed. The facilities provided were extremely poor, and placements were not even a topic of discussion. No internships were provided. Only paid internships, which students had to find on their own, were available.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was not very good; it was just okay. Wi-Fi was not provided, and the labs were not sufficiently equipped. The classrooms were basic, and only a few had projectors. Hostel conditions were extremely poor, with hardly any security provided. Mess food was not up to the mark, medical facilities were questionable, though sports and games were encouraged.
Faculty: Some professors were highly qualified, but others lacked professional qualifications. Only a few were helpful, while many hardly came to college or took classes. The laboratories were not fully equipped, so lab skills were taught in a limited capacity, making it hard for students to be industry-prepared. Semester exams were conducted well since the papers came from the university and not the college, ensuring seriousness in the exams.
Other: I selected Genetic Engineering as it plays a significant role in Biotechnology and is important for my future endeavors. The course provided a detailed distribution of subjects, though most of it was covered by students themselves. The college needs a better Principal, more trained faculty, and an improved infrastructure, especially in lab construction.

Satisfied with the education.
Placements: In general, there are no placements for the students of B.Sc (Genetics), but once you complete your Masters, there are more opportunities for getting a job in many industries. Recently, some students are getting jobs as soon as they complete B.Sc. Some companies visit the college to recruit the students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, but not like Amity, VIT and other private colleges. Labs are very good here. A gym has been opened for students. There is a playground too. In short, the environment is good. There are separate buildings for different labs.
Faculty: Faculty are very good here. They will help you in the class as well as after the class hours. They always guide the students. Most of them are highly qualified and have huge research experience too. The course genetics is a 3 years course with 6 semesters.
Other: Events organised in the college are Saraswati puja, sports day and cricket tournament.

A nice foundation for a bright future.
Placements: Well, there are no placements here. Some companies come to take students only a few times. But after studying here, students do get admission in good colleges and universities for their higher studies. Most students apply for jobs like lab assistant and research fellowship.
Infrastructure: Well, the classroom here is good. The campus here is fully Wi-Fi enabled. The library here is the storehouse of resources. It also has a large number of books, and it also has an e-lab where bioinformatics is also taught. It also has a computer lab. The canteen food and the hostel here are average.
Faculty: The faculty here is awesome. They are highly qualified and are very helpful. Their teaching quality is also better than most of the universities in India. This college has an outstanding lab. The students to faculty ratio is also low, so all the students here are given equal importance. The course here is more than enough. This is the best thing about the college.

Placements: There were no such placement opportunities in the past. But from this year, to get NAAC affiliation they have started giving the placement after graduation and post graduation which is yet to start. Moreover, the college authorities only promise to provide recommendations for the companies if a student wants. The college provides no internships. The students have to search for it on their own if they wish to do one.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure facilities are not good. It's like average. The Wi-fi is available although it's speed is slow. The classrooms are provided with minimum facilities compared to what the others colleges have. They have a projector and 2 boards in 2 of their classrooms. Others are just like that with benches and chairs. The library is devoid of necessary books. There are no books for the special paper of genetic department. They have e-library too. But it's of no use. E-books are there but not accessible to the students. No medical facilities are provided for the students. Vice- principal of our college runs thalassemia clinic for the slum people. The canteen food is not up to mark. Only 2-3 type of food is available. The hostel is a two-stored building. Its facilities are pathetic, bathrooms are unhygienic, and the hostel food is even worse. It's better to stay in a PG.
Faculty: There are about 17-18 teachers. Excluding non-teaching staff. Some of them are truly knowledgeable and professional towards their job. They help in every possible way. But a bunch of teachers are there who are like a headache to the students. Egoistic and rude. The student to teacher ratio is 5:1. One of the major drawbacks of this college is that the communicating language used during teaching, by almost majority of teachers, is Bengali which is problematic to non- Bengali students. The course curriculum is useful and provided according to Makaut standards. The industrial training is not available till date in the college.
Other: Hardly 2-3 events are organised in the college. The students take that too initiative. The authorities are not at all helpful in organising the freshers and farewell. They only intend to celebrate Saraswati Puja in the college. From this year, youth day was celebrated in the college. The scholarships are not provided to the meritable students.

Placements: There are no placement cells provided by the college as of now. But, due to NAAC affiliation, there have been talks regarding the establishment of placement cells inside the campus. We don't know how much of this is going to be true, but our seniors have got placed in reputed companies by their own hard work and academic excellence. There are no internships provided by the college. And if the students take the initiative and apply for internships in different colleges, then the authorities don't even support. They reject the application, doesn't even permit late night work. We don't even have seminars going on around the year, and the few that we have are also decided by our principal starting from the topic to what slides should be put in the presentation and what we should say and what we shouldn't. And if our principal doesn't like it, he doesn't even have the patience to hear it until the end. He just conveys his heartfelt regards in two simple words "get out".
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is below average for co-curriculum, sports and social events. Laboratory infrastructure is up to the mark with some effective yet acceptable instrumentation for example PCR machine, photometer, etc. The computers here also doesn't work properly with only one CPU connecting to a line of monitors. There are no medical facilities on the campus. The classrooms are average which are more of like a government school. The quality of the food in the canteen is also very unhealthy and unhygienic. There are no proper cooks in the canteen. Hostel rooms here are pathetic and totally unhygienic, filthy and disgusting with no proper water filter and also surrounded by the cats the entire day. There is not even a proper dustbin in the entire 2- storey building.
Faculty: The faculty and the course curriculum is the only highlighting factor of IGE. We have some amazing teachers who share their valuable knowledge with us except few of them. The course curriculum is interesting which helps us gain extra knowledge about different areas in our field of study. The teaching quality is nice, but the only problem is that most of the teachers conduct their classes in Bengali which becomes a little problematic for students not belonging to a Bengali background. The student to faculty ratio is approximately 5:1, and by far we haven't had any industrial exposure here.
Other: There are only 3-4 events conducted by IGE around the year like that of fresher's day, farewell party, Saraswati Puja and just recently the national youth day. The authorities here are totally unacceptable and inflexible for any kind of events inside the campus. They arrive late for the event. Also, they don't show any kind of co-operation and are utterly rude and intolerant towards any kind of co-curriculum except the studies. There are no scholarships provided by the college. For extracurricular, we only have a badminton tournament for girls and a cricket tournament for boys and that to even 10 days before the event. Except that, we don't have any kind of recreational ground or activity going on around the year.
