The cutoff trend for medical Courses at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research has been decreasing in the recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for medical courses under the General category for all India quota was 96638. In 2022, it decreased to 302. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 102725 to 5382 for OBC, 205228 to 46025 for SC, 284382 to 111680 for ST, 93122 to 1060 for EWS and 747213 to 137101 for PWD.

The opening and closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For the General category under All India, opening rank was 302 and closing rank was 302. Cut off are differant when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state.  The selection to the course is done on the basis of how the candidates perform for the entrance exam set by the college. JIPMER college offers M.Sc in Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences. No, JIPMER Puducherry admit candidates to its MBBS programme based on merit in NEET only. There is no other provision for selection. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted once in a year in offline or paper-pencil based test (PBT) mode. The national-level exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Aspirants can visit its official website to register and apply. In addition to this, candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 50% in Class 12.  

Both AIIMS and JIPMER counseling takes place through 15% all india quota counseling conducted by MCC. AIIMS and JIPMER are topmost medical college of our country so if you are Gen category students and looking to get these colleges you must aim to score 670-680 marks in your NEET exam.

For admission to JIPMER BSc in Nursing course, aspirants must be Class 12 pass with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Botany & Zoology, and English as one of the subjects. The qualifying exam should have been passed with at least 50% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ST/OBC; 45% aggregate for PwD category candidates). Moreover, the applicants age at the time of admission should be at least 17 years, or candidate must turn 17 on or before December 31 of the year of admission. There is not upper age limit.

JIPMER Puducherry admit candidates to its BSc courses on the basis of merit in the NEET exam. Some of the seats are reserved for the students who are residents of Pondicherry. However, the remaining seats are open for admission to candidates across the country. Hence, you can get admission even if you are not from Pondicherry.

Candidate must hold the degree and mark sheets as well during the form filling and admission confirmation.

JIPMER Puducherry admit candidates to the MD programmes based on INI CET scores. Hence, the cutoff is released based on exam score and seat availability. In 2024, the closing rank was most competitive for MD in Radio Diagnosis course - 14. This was followed by MD in Paediatrics - 104 and General Medicine - 125. Candidates with exam score equal to or more than the cutoff become eligible to apply for admission.

JIPMER Puducherry is a highly competitive exam, but it is easier than national-level medical entrance exams like NEET and AIIMS. However, because of the huge number of students competing for only 200 seats, it is difficult to get admission in JIPMER. The acceptance rate of JIPMER is 0.1%. The exam paper has 10 questions from the English language and 10 from logical reasoning. The JIPMER syllabus is based on the Tamil Nadu state board syllabus, so it’s quite easy for CBSE students but the topics that are only a part of the Tamil Nadu state board need to be studied. The exam is easier than NEET and AIIMS, but it is still a difficult exam. The cutoff marks and ranks can vary each year based on the number of applicants and the difficulty level of the exam.
