There are a total of 141 seats for the JIPMER MD course. The seats are further bifurcated among the different MD specialisations. The highest seat count is for MD in General Medicine, which is 20. The period of training for MD course is three completed years including the examinations  period at JIPMER Puducherry. However, for the students with a two-year PG Diploma in the same subject, the period of training shall be two years. Moreover, the institute's training procedure is designed involves learning experience for candidates around the needs of the community.

Candidates have to score the minimum cut off to qualify for INI CET exam. The qualifying INI CET cut off percentile for the general category is 50%. Candidates who belong to SC/ST/OBC category have to score minimum qualifying cut off, 45. Candidates who qualify the exam with the minimum cut off percentile are eligible for the counselling process. Based on INI CET cut off a merit list will be released. The merit list comprises name of eligible candidates for the different counselling rounds. JIPMER BSc admission is entrance-based. Candidates are shortlisted and admission is offered based on NEET scores. However, there are some specialisations, in which the admission can be granted on merit-basis. Candidates who are Class 12 pass with PCM/Biology and English as a subject with at least 50% aggregate (for general candidates) can apply. The aspirants must meet the age limit as well. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility requirements can apply for admission by completing the application form.

JIPMER BSc admission cycle shall commence with the release of NEET application forms. It is generally released in March month of the admission year. The application window may get closed by April. Aspirants shall stay updated with important dates to submit form timely.
