The period of training for MD course is three completed years including the examinations  period at JIPMER Puducherry. However, for the students with a two-year PG Diploma in the same subject, the period of training shall be two years. Moreover, the institute's training procedure is designed involves learning experience for candidates around the needs of the community.

Candidates have to score the minimum cut off to qualify for INI CET exam. The qualifying INI CET cut off percentile for the general category is 50%. Candidates who belong to SC/ST/OBC category have to score minimum qualifying cut off, 45. Candidates who qualify the exam with the minimum cut off percentile are eligible for the counselling process. Based on INI CET cut off a merit list will be released. The merit list comprises name of eligible candidates for the different counselling rounds. JIPMER, Pondicherry offers twelve courses in its M.Sc program. The admission is made on the basis of marks secured in entrance exams. The entrance exams accepted for admission to M.Sc at JIPMER, Pondicherry are JIPMER Nursing and JIPMER PG. Other than these, JIPMER admission to MD/ MS courses is based on INI CET scores. Overall six months time is sufficent for INI CET preparation. This includes 4 month in depth study and 2-month for revision work. The moment a candidate plan to appear for the INI CET, first and formost things he/she should do is to draw a study plan. Focus on those subjects where you are strong in terms of concept. Don't spend too musch time initially on subjects where you are weak. This will demotivate you and affect your preparation. Keep this in mind that concept is key. High yielding topics must be prepared properly to score good marks in INI CET exam.
