B.A. (Hons.) in English - Batch of 2023
4.2

Supportive faculty members, vibrant campus, and enriching english curriculum.
Placements: I pursued B.A. (Hons) English at Maitreyi College. Around 20-30% of students from my batch were placed, as many opted for higher studies or competitive exams. The highest package was around 6 LPA, while the average was about 3 LPA to 4 LPA. Top recruiters included TCS, Wipro, and a few publishing houses. Nearly 40% of students got internships in content writing, editing, NGOs, and startups like Internshala, The Sprint, and Outlook. Roles like content creator, copywriter, and editorial assistant were common. College placement cell was active and helpful, especially for students who actively participated in workshops and skill-building activities.
Infrastructure: Maitreyi College offered a peaceful academic environment with well-lit classrooms, a great library with rich literary resources, and good Wi-Fi access. While specific labs were not needed for English. The seminar hall and digital classrooms support presentations and events well. The library was spacious and perfect for study hours. Although the college did not provide an in-house hostel, students find nearby PGs with decent facilities. Canteen served hygienic and budget-friendly food. Medical facilities were basic but the response was there in emergencies. Sports facilities were available for games like basketball, cricket, and yoga. Students were encouraged to participate in college sports events.
Faculty: Faculty members in the English department at Maitreyi College were highly qualified, supportive, and passionate about literature. Most teachers bring deep academic insight and encourage open discussions, making classes interactive. The curriculum was updated, covering both classical and modern texts, literary theory, and writing skills, which helped in building critical thinking, though not strictly. It was industry-ready. Exams were moderately difficult, students who attend lectures and stay consistent generally perform well. The pass percentage was high, and internal assessment also contributed to the final grade, reducing pressure during final exams. Overall, the academic atmosphere was motivating and student-friendly.
Other: I chose B.A. (Hons) English at Maitreyi College because of my interest in literature and the college's good reputation under Delhi University. The course encouraged creativity, analysis, and communication. Fests like Rhapsody were lively, and the campus crowd was diverse and welcoming. The college was well-connected via metro and bus routes. The surroundings were safe and peaceful. Extracurricular activities were active, with various societies to join. However, more industry exposure or career guidance could improve the course. Overall, the experience was academically enriching and personally fulfilling.

B.A. (Political Science, Sociology) - Batch of 2025

It's like a safe heaven for women.
Placements: I was placed through DU, not my college. Average package offered was hardly 5 LPA. Top recruiting company was Paytm. Everyone got an internship, but it was unpaid. Commerce students have better chances (15-20% placed), while Arts and Science placements are rare or almost non-existent. Most students opt for higher education (Master's, UPSC, CAT, etc. ) or seek off-campus jobs.
Infrastructure: I love the greenery. Canteen was amazing. Had fun. Library is spacious, air-conditioned, and has a good collection of academic books, journals, magazines, and newspapers. There are dedicated reading zones and a computer section for online research and DU e-resources.
Faculty: Teachers don't know the syllabus of the 4th year NEP, even though college starts in 2 days. It's quite sad. Semester exams are easy. In departments like Political Science, English, Psychology, Botany, and Zoology, the faculty is particularly reputed. They often use a blend of traditional and digital teaching methods (presentations, Google Classroom, discussions) and support students in research papers, internships, and competitions.

College campus is beautiful but crowd is not good and it is worth visiting.
Placements: Only students who are teachers' favourite get placements and it is not really worth working hard. I mean just average upto 5 LPA, and the main thing is only teachers give a chance to get placements. So basically if you want placements, you need to be teachers favourite.
Infrastructure: All the facilities available are good. But Wi-Fi is not so good. I have heard from students that hostel is nice. Canteen is good and other facilities are also good and worthy. The canteen food is nice and hygienic as well. But washrooms are very dirty and need to be cleaned.
Faculty: Faculty members and union members really work hard for any fests or seminars to be successful. The main issue is that attendance is provided for attending seminars but sometimes it becomes compulsory.
Other: This course is really good and it offers nice material to study. I can pursue M.Sc. in any course including Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry. Fests, programs, and seminars are worth attending.

A blend of academic excellence, supportive faculty & vibrant campus life.
Placements: Companies like Zomato, Deloitte, Accenture, TCS, Wipro, Amazon, KPMG, PwC, and EY visit the campus. Common average packages are around 5 LPA, with top packages occasionally exceeding 20 LPA. For placements, students with 60% are eligible students to get placed. Botany students often orient towards higher studies.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available, and labs are fully equipped. Classrooms are good and library is also good. Hostel food is good and canteen food is hygienic. Entirely home like vibes can be felt in winters and you can enjoy the sunlight in the ground with friends. The New Science Block, with lift access, offers seminar halls and 16 well-lit and ventilated Science labs.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. Lot of knowledge is given, exams are not too tough. They are moderate and almost everyone can pass them. Most faculty members hold PhDs and are known for being well-qualified and experienced. Many are from reputed institutions like JNU.
Other: Fests are definitely one of best things in college life, this year Astha Gill just made it more memorable.

Fests are the best part of college life.
Placements: There are not many placement opportunities for the B.A. program. The course itself has really few opportunities. In addition, placements are taken by B.Com (Hons) or some students of B.A. (Hons), specifically if students are from a language background in any college, be it DU or another.
Infrastructure: There are improvements needed in some parts, like an old block. Some parts are amazing, like a new Science block, library, or labs in any building.
Faculty: Teachers in some departments are not great. Other faculty members are amazing. Specifically, faculty members of the English department are amazing. Each teacher is amazing, and they know what they have to do and how to deal with the syllabus and students in the best way possible.

It's average, infrastructure is very good, and facilities are also good, etc.
Placements: In my course, there were no placements as we come from a science background. However, many internships are available, although they are not paid. These internships help improve CVs and resumes by offering certificates. Only selected students are able to participate in these internships.
Infrastructure: There are proper classes held every day. The labs and classrooms are very good, and there are seminar halls and an amphitheater as well. The overall infrastructure is good, with Wi-Fi available. The canteen food is affordable, though the taste is average. Hostel fees are too high compared to the accommodation provided.
Faculty: Most of the faculty in our college and course is good, but a negative point is the partiality among students. The exams are of a normal level, mostly based on previous year questions, and about 90% of students pass. However, in internal assessments, marks are often given only to selected students.
Other: The course is quite hectic, with classes running until 5:30 PM. The regularity of classes is a positive aspect. Improvements could be made in the professors' behavior and teaching methods. All cultural activities and fests are conducted once a year, and they are full of fun.
