A good opportunity for a great start.
Placements: I am studying at MIT, Manipal, ECE, in my first year. As of now, it is a great start, and I talked to many seniors, to summarize, I can say 90% placement in core streams. 99% placements in CSE, but it depends on your hard work, whether you are going in list of students who are not placed, and ample opportunities are given for higher studies.
Infrastructure: I stay in hostel block 5, room is small, but comfortable and sufficient. Moreover, depending on how you study, you get a choice of rooms, like if you are studying really good you have plenty of options in rooms like AC, non-AC, single seater, double seater, triple seater. But if you are not studying good and your CGPA is low, you have fewer options in room or sometimes the worst option or even no options, but then all rooms are good, it depends upon your needs. There is free Wi-Fi too.
Faculty: All instructions are given clearly, and we also get a trial chance to do everything, like answering a question or doing something in the lab. Student-to-teacher ratio is great, such that we can spend even 2 hours with them in their cabins. We also have multiple teachers in same subject, so we have an option to go to whichever teacher we like to solve our doubts. Whole syllabus is set in a way such that you need not go for extra coaching for GATE or other higher education entrance exams.
Other: Campus crowd is not a thing to worry about, if you have seen the crowd in VIT.

M.Tech. in Computer Science and Information Security - Batch of 2023
3.2

Decent college with okay placements and basic facilities.
Placements: I am from M.Tech Electronics batch of MIT. About 60% students were placed. Highest package was 12 LPA, lowest salary package was 3 LPA, and average package was around 5.5 LPA. Companies like Infosys, TCS, and Qualcomm came. 40% got internships at Wipro, Bosch, etc. Roles were mostly developer and analyst.
Infrastructure: Our depth had good labs, Wi-Fi, and classrooms with projectors. Library also had enough books. Hostel was okay-okay, the rooms were a little small. Food in mess was not so good, but canteen was better. Medical help was available, but slow. A sports ground was there, but not much equipment.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful and knew things, but some did not teach well. Teaching quality is mixed. Syllabus was mostly relevant but not fully industry-type. Exams were a bit hard, need to study. Pass percent was around 75%. Some subjects were tough, some easy. It's quite good.
Other: I am from M.Tech Electronics batch. I chose this course because I like electronics and tech. Best part is lab work and some good teachers. But syllabus needs to be updated and include more projects. Fests happen, crowd is mixed, campus is fine. Need better Wi-Fi and more activities.

Dissatisfied with facilities.
Placements: Percentage of the students who were placed in our course was 55%. Highest package was 13 LPA, average package was 7.5 LPA, and lowest package was 4 LPA. Many reputed and big companies reached our college campus for recruitment.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and labs are of average size and are not cleaned daily. Wi-Fi facilities are only available for faculty members. Quality of food available in mess and canteen is very hygienic and tasteless. Hostel rooms are also not comfortable. Limited sports facilities present.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified enough, but not so knowledgeable. They always take help of books during teaching. Teaching quality is average. Some of the teachers and college staff are of a very unhelpful and rude nature. Curricular activities are only conducted at the start of semester.

My honest review of my college.
Placements: Placements and job opportunities are pretty good, as much as compared to the best engineering colleges in India. The recruiting companies are Amazon, Microsoft, Google, GE, Yamaha, Honeywell, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, IBM, Maruti, Goldman Sachs, and many more. The packages for core roles go up to 18 LPA, the average is around 6 LPA, and MRCs offer around 3- 3.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: Hostels are much better compared to other colleges, with the infrastructure and the kind of facilities provided. There are enough rooms to fit in all the students, plus all options all available, like single (AC/non-AC) and double (AC/non-AC). The mess food is good in terms of hygiene, but for obvious reasons, it becomes boring if you eat there every day.
Faculty: There is specialized faculty for every subject. Most of them have a Ph.D. or a minimum of a Master's in the subject they teach. The faculty is very much interested in helping students who are actually interested. Motivating and keen on students going into the research side and developing things rather than simply looking for jobs. The structure consists of a total of 100 marks per subject in a semester. The first sessional is 20 marks, the second sessional is 20 marks, and again, 5 assignment tests (2 marks each) for 10 marks. The semester examination is of 50 marks. This is the structure for every theory subject in all semesters. The course structure is good enough in terms of understanding the concept, but it is not up to the mark when it comes to focusing on research. The selection of electives is based on the CGPA, and students with higher CGPAs usually fill the seats for more preferred electives.

Great campus life with strong placements, solid curriculum, and excellent infrastructure.
Placements: For our senior batch (2025), approximately 85-90% of students secured placements. The highest package offered was rupees 30 LPA (primarily for software roles), while the average was about rupees 7-8 LPA, and the lowest was around rupees 3.5 LPA. Top recruiters included Microsoft, Cisco, Qualcomm, Deloitte, TCS Digital, and Micron, with companies providing both core and IT roles. About 70-75% of students also obtained internships at firms such as Intel, NXP, Deloitte, and Tonbo Imaging. The primary roles offered ranged from software developer and data analyst to Embedded Systems Engineer and VLSI Design Engineer.
Infrastructure: The ECE department at MIT Manipal features well-equipped labs for VLSI, Embedded Systems, signal processing, and communication, along with Wi-Fi-enabled smart classrooms and access to a central library housing a vast collection of technical resources. The hostels are clean and secure, offering options for both AC and non-AC rooms, regular cleaning, and laundry services. The mess food is decent, with multiple vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and there are various canteens and food courts across the campus. Medical facilities at Kasturba Hospital are excellent, and the campus boasts strong sports infrastructure, including courts for basketball, badminton, tennis, football, and a fully equipped gym.
Faculty: The faculty in the ECE department at MIT Manipal is well-qualified, with many members holding PhDs and possessing strong research or industry experience. Most professors are helpful and approachable, and the teaching quality is generally good, particularly in core subjects. The curriculum is regularly updated to include industry-relevant topics such as IoT, VLSI, and machine learning, making it quite suitable for both higher studies and jobs. Semester exams are moderately challenging, with a good balance between theory and application-based questions. The pass percentage is high—usually above 90%—as long as students attend classes and remain consistent.
Other: I'm from the B.Teach ECE batch of 2026 at MIT Manipal. I chose ECE for its mix of hardware and software career options. The best part is the flexibility in roles - core or IT - and access to good labs. I wish there was more hands-on industry exposure. The campus life is vibrant with teaching and cultural fests like TechTatva and Revel, a diverse crowd, great connectivity, and lots of clubs, sports, and events to explore.

Dissatisfied with placements.
Placements: Placements at Manipal University were just average, with only 40% of students securing placements. The placement cell was not responsive, and internships were not provided by the college. Students had to find internships and jobs on their own. The top recruiting companies were Asian Paints and Wipro.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the college was good, but according to me, it was not value for money. Wi-Fi, labs, and digital classrooms were available for students. Sports facilities were not available, and only academics were focused. Residing in the hostel was quite expensive, but the food quality was good.
Faculty: Faculty was good and well-educated, but they were not polite to students. Their teaching quality was average. The course curriculum was relevant, but it did not make students industry-ready. The semester examinations were easy to qualify, but students had to purchase unnecessary additional courses apart from tuition fees.
