Absolutely good college to study engineering and get placed in top companies.
Placements: Unlike other colleges where a placement officer calls some companies to the college, MEC has an active student participation in the placement cell. Students try to contact their seniors or company HRs. They have connections to bring the companies to the college. Every year, companies like Microsoft, Yahoo and Samsung used to visit the college and grab the talents they want. I am pursuing M.tech in VLSI and embedded systems in MEC. All the students till the 2014-2015 batch were GATE scholars. In my batch, 9 are GATE scholars out of 24. Non-GATE students have a high CGPA in their BTech else they could not get admission in MEC for MTech in VLSI and embedded systems. All our seniors are now currently doing internships in leading companies like Broadcom, Synopsis, GE Healthcare, Ignatarium etc. Till the last batch, all the students got internships. The highest stipend offered for our immediate seniors is in Synopsis which is 25,000. Companies take students for the internship and students can assist them in their company projects.
Infrastructure: Excellent lab and infrastructures are available. Tools like Cadence are available in the MTech Lab. There is a high-speed Wi-Fi facility inside the campus available always. Every year, an annual tech fest, arts and sports are conducted and the students' participation is huge. The canteen is clean and neat with a good food at a cheaper rate. Classrooms have adequate facilities with a large space and good chairs. The college has only a boys' hostel which is very good in facilities. Hostel verandahs near the first-year students' room are under camera surveillance. Even if a women's hostel is not run by the college, many private girls' hostels are available near to college which are very good. One of them is run by YMCA.
Faculty: All the faculty members in the college are senior professors along with some assistant professors and guest lecturers. There are some research scholars also. The college principal is Dr Devasiya who formerly worked in HMT Kalamassery. All the teachers have very good knowledge in their respective area and they are always willing to help. Every year faculty development programmes are run by IHRD in the college. Many of the professors in the college have published many international journals. Teachers try their best to finish the topics covered in the curriculum and used to give students seminars on some topics. There is an adequate number of faculty members available in the college in every branch. Industrial talks are often conducted by respective departments.
Other: The best college to study BTech in electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, computer science engineering and MTech in VLSI and embedded systems. It is in the top 3 colleges ranked by Kerala Technological University in last year. The college stands 28th among all engineering institutes in India as stated by the Outlook magazine.
