B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2027
4.6

Absolute college for return on investment.
Placements: More than 95% of students of my branch (mechanical engineering) got placed with an average package of 9 LPA and the highest package of 13.95 LPA. The top recruiting companies that come here for placement are JSW, Vedanta, Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Anand Group, L&T, Pradeep Metalliks, NowPurchase, Future First, etc.
Infrastructure: A 67-acre green campus with a library that consists of more than 50000 books, a centralized computer room, a gym, a cafeteria owned by KitKat, a lush green football and cricket ground on campus, Wi-Fi campus, a lecture hall complex for all classes, and for each year, there is a separate hostel. From the 2nd year, single rooms are allotted.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, and their qualifications are no less than those of any professor. They qualify for the NTA exam for a professor. Most of them are IIT graduates, IIT post-graduates, and IIT Ph.D. The course curriculum is designed according to the college's brand value. Not for computer engineering, but every branch considers the topic of manufacturing engineering.

B.Tech. in Metallurgy and Material Engineering - Batch of 2028
4.4
5Placements5Infrastructure4Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
If anyone gets an average rank in JEE, this is the best college for core branches.
Placements: It's a very good college in terms of placement in core branches. Here, the average and highest package for the last year 2024 is 7.4 LPA and 15 LPA Abroad or 13.95 LPA Domestic. This year, 100% of students in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering have been placed. Companies like JSW, Vedanta, Cresent Foundry, NBC Bearings, Tata Steel Limited, Hitachi, etc., come for recruitment. The first batch of Computer Engineering has not passed yet, so data for this department is not available.
Infrastructure: There is an administrative building situated in the center of the campus. On the opposite side of the administrative building, there is a faculty building where students can ask doubts, etc. There is a multi-purpose building and a gym for students. There are 4 hostels on the campus 3 for boys and 1 for girls. For first-year students, there is HJB hostel, which is well-maintained. For second and third-year students, there is JCB hostel. For final-year students, there is MV hostel. For ADC and M.Tech students, there is Nirala hostel. And for girls, there is KCC hostel.
Faculty: There are 5 departments in the college. The Head of the Department HOD of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering is Dr. Ghanshyam Das. The HOD of Manufacturing Engineering is Dr. G. Rajamohan. The HOD of Foundry and Forge Technology is Dr. Madhu Kumari. The HOD of Applied Science and Humanities is Prof. Anil Kumar. The Director of this college is Prof. Path Protim Chattopadhyay. The course curriculum is relevant and mostly helpful for the GATE examination. This curriculum also makes you industry-ready to tackle problems and more. The semester exams are conducted fairly, and there is no stress or pressure during exams. The passing percentage here is almost 95% and above.
Other: I chose this college for a better future in core branches, and this college is a way to secure my future. There is an annual fest named JINKS-PRANAV held every year. There are also scholarships offered like NSP, ASPIRE Scholarship, and Reliance Foundation Scholarship.

B.Tech. in Metallurgy and Material Engineering - Batch of 2027
4.4
5Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Placements and infrastructure are good but lack of sports facilities. This is very good college.
Placements: Placements are very good. Approximately 100% placement is there. The highest package is 14 LPA, and the lowest is approximately 4 LPA and average is 7 LPA-8 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Tata Metallics, JSW, Vedanta, MPM, Ashok Leyland, etc. Here you will not get internships from college you have to find internships by yourself.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good you will get good Wi-Fi availability, labs are well maintained, and classrooms are very good. Every classroom has projector. In library you will not get every book but will get maximum course related books. Mess food is not good sometimes it is okayish or bad. Medical facilities are average and not much proper facilities for sports.
Faculty: Faculty members are the main part of any college. Here faculty members are supportive but teaching way of some faculty members are very good while some are very bad. Teachers are very knowledgeable. Course curriculum is relevant and updated. It makes students ready for industries. Semester exams are difficult but not very much difficult. Approximately 85% of students pass without having back.
Other: Fest is not so good. As the previous year, Jinks Pranav (annual fest) did not conducted.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2026
3.8
4Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
A college is a boon in the core sector.
Placements: As per the placement brochure, more than 95% of seniors get placed every year with 9 LPA as the average package for the metallurgy branch and 7 LPA package for the mechanical branch. While other two branches are new and their first batch will pass out in 2026 to get tier placement data.
Infrastructure: Despite being an old established college in the 1960s era, still, the infrastructure and buildings do not seem to be very old. Although hostel rooms are spacious still the mess food quality is poor. Medical facilities are okay they provide a health card on which one can have their free checkup.
Faculty: Faculty members are good, course curriculum of mechanical is on track with a good mixture of theory and practical knowledge. Deep understanding and attention are required when professors are teaching. Semester exams are easy and based on whatever is taught in class.
Other: I chose mechanical because of my interest and also because my brother was from the 2014-18 batch from IIT Kanpur in same branch. College can improve its campus area as it is very small. Also adding a few more branches can enhance its exposure along with good student capacity.

An underrated government college.
Placements: Currently, I am in 3rd year so our batch will pass out next year, but considering the next batch placement scenario we can see more than 70% of students have been placed and still it is ongoing. The highest package offered is 8.5 LPA by Crestan Foundry. The lowest is 4 LPA by L&T. It is quite less as compared to the previous year's placements which is 13.95 LPA the highest with an average 9 LPA. Top roles offered are shift in-charge, MTT, and GET.
Infrastructure: For metallurgy, facilities are top notch with well-equipped labs and workshops as it is a prime branch of this college. Books are filled in library but are of old editions. Hostel is very good as compared to other colleges. We have single seater rooms from 2nd year onwards. Mess food quality is poor so we have to adjust by eating outside. There is a health center for regular checkups. There is a big ground for playing outdoor games.
Faculty: Faculty members are well qualified with Ph.D. holder degrees from IIT or NIT. Teaching quality is good but varies from student to student, how they connect to their respective professors. Courses curriculum is slightly outdated with an old syllabus. Still, it is relevant as there is not much thing which has changed in the past few years. Semester exams are easy, consisting of one mid-semester exam between the semester and one end-semester exam at the end of the semester.
Other: I chose this course for purpose of GATE as student intake is less so competition is not very high for PSU government job. The thing that can be improved abour Metallurgy is that can add more value-adding or practical learning subjects rather than theoretical parts. Only one major fest is conducted every year named JINKS-PRANAV, which has still not been conducted for past 2 years due to internal conflicts.

Highly underrated in terms of ROI, less exposure is the biggest drawback.
Placements: Placement in the metallurgy branch is decent and good as compared to other branches. More than 98% of students get placed every year due to low student intake. The highest package offered was 13.95 LPA by Vedanta, meanwhile, the lowest package data is still unidentified, ranging from 2.5 to 3 LPA. But the average package for both branches combined is 7 LPA. Top recruiting companies are JSW, Vedanta, Mahindra, L&T, etc., offering roles in sales and marketing, shift in charge, or management trainee.
Infrastructure: As the branch is the core, labs are present in the main administrative building. Two lecture halls for all branches and years are there, which is a slight drawback. But as the college has a low student intake, it doesn't matter much, though upon expanding in the future, it may cause problems. Now, coming to the hostel, they have provided single rooms to students from 2nd to final year, while double-seater rooms are for girls and 1st-year students. Mess food is okay.
Faculty: Well-qualified teachers with Ph.D. from IIT / NIT are present to provide any help required. Teaching quality is moderate, as the branch is theoretical, so the student himself has to put in more effort. The course curriculum is outdated; they are still going with the old syllabus. Semester exams are easy, as 2 mid-sem and 1 end-sem occur.
Other: I chose this course by chance, but now I am bound to have a career in this in the future. The best thing about this course is less competition because only government colleges are offering B.Tech in Metallurgy. The only thing they can improve is adding more skillful / attractive subjects instead of theoretical subjects that require mugging up talent. A major fest, JINKS-PRANAV, is conducted every year, while a few small programs occur frequently.
