B.Tech. in Engineering and Computational Mechanics - Batch of 2029

Good college, average infrastructure, and nice placements.
Placements: Majorly SDE roles in non-core, other than that nearly 100 percent placement as companies simply take masses because the college is present in an industrial area. The highest package is approximately 1.2 CPA and the lowest is around 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Tata, Jindal, students here approach companies.
Infrastructure: Not great infrastructure, but two new hostels, one for boys and one for girls, are excellent. Otherwise, other hostels are not that good. Also, we don't have our own auditorium, but we do have an open-air theatre where nearly all events and fests take place.
Faculty: As other National Institutes of Technologies and Indian Institutes of Technologies, this college follows similar curriculum and semester exams. Professors here are chill, but there are some professors who are strict also. They are quite knowledgeable, talented, and helpful.
Other: I opted for this course because I heard that students from this course in other colleges have better placements than other known branches.

Completely satisfied with the college and the branch.
Placements: Currently, like 14 out of 30 students are placed till now, with the highest package around 44 LPA, and our average package is around 19 LPA, which I think is good. This is the first batch from ECM that is on placement. I think with time, placement will be better than the current scenario. I would like to inform you that all of them are placed in non-core, so this branch is completely on the tech side. With time, the branch demand will increase in the market.
Infrastructure: For 1st year student hostel L is allocated, which is new and modern with a good wifi and LAN facility. So overall, there is no issue with the internet. A smart, well-equipped classroom with modern infrastructure. Food quality is fine, better than other hostels where I lived, and they maintain proper hygiene also.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are well qualified, like some have completed their Ph.D. from abroad, and some from IIT. So no doubt on their qualification. Most of them are good in behaviour and very supportive in both academic and non-academic activities. From this year onward, there is relatively grading is done, so it completely depends on your overall class average. Semester exams are also quite moderate, not that tough.
Other: Like this is alloted me in jossa so it's completely expected from myside but now I am enjoying it. I suggest that if the mechanical portion is reduced a little, then it would be better. In our college, we have too many events, like every month we have at least 4-5 days of events. The campus is not too crowded, it has enough space, and full of a natural vibe.

Real review from NITian.
Placements: Almost 95% above are placed in the PIE branch. Overall, there is 92% placement percentage at NIT Jamshedpur. In this course, the highest would be around 18-20 LPA and above, the average would be around 10 LPA, and the lowest would be around 5 LPA. Eaton, JSW Steel, Flipkart (supply management roles), etc. Top roles include Data Analyst, supply chain roles, etc.
Infrastructure: Hostel, I would rate 5 above and more especially, the hostel is at the level of IITs and above any NITs hostel. Cleanliness in the hostel is also top-level, sweeping machines are used. Mess food, I would rate 4.5. Non-Veg is very good. Veg students have to suffer a little bit. Medical, I would rate 5. There is always an ambulance available 24/7, and there are doctors for stress and anxiety. Also, one of my classmates has anxiety problems, so the college authority takes it seriously. Sports, Iwould rate 4. Mostly, all sports are available, so overall 4. You can check out my Instagram profile (raja_kumar.018), don't forget to follow me.
Faculty: Professors are helpful. All course curricula are relevant as they have recently been renewed. Here, branch-specific subjects are being taught by professors who are important for the future, such as C++, Java, CSS, and DSA, which are included in the CSE branch. PIE branch includes Supply management subjects, and Data Analysis subjects are market-ready subjects. Semester exams are of a moderate level, except for 1-2 subjects, depending on proof.

Reasons why not to leave the admission here, NIT Jamshedpur.
Placements: Talking of students placed in 2024, the number of offers represented was 725 plus. Companies visited were more than 260. The highest package was 82 LPA, and the average was 12.63 LPA. Overall, 93.76 percent of students were placed. Prominent recruiters were Atlassian, Flipkart, and Accenture. In the Mechanical department, the placement percentage was 91.5 percent. The batch size of the 2024 passout was 673.
Infrastructure: Speaking of academic facilities and infrastructure, lectures are taken in a new lecture hall, which has all facilities, Wi-Fi, LAN, a projector, and a library is near the lecture hall, so you can study after attending lectures. Labs of all subjects are in the old academic building, the labs' infrastructure is a bit old, fans are there, but in peak summers, they're of no use. The equipment and machinery of some labs are new, but some are of the old kind, but good if you're in robotics, electronics, and computer labs. Wi-Fi is present on the entire campus, and LAN is also in every hostel room.
Faculty: Professor and PhD scholars are very helpful, though a couple of them might be tough or strict, but still, they understand their students and are always available. The course is very good and bifurcation in every semester is done in a good way, students also get practical knowledge through labs, making students ready for the real world. Semester exam toughness varies with the professor. But with relatively grading it doesn't matter a lot now. To pass, a student must get marks higher than 35 in theory and 40 in labs.
Other: This college is the best option for college life and placement offers. With many cultural teams and technical teams, fests and events, you will never feel left out and will always learn.

Good placements, strong academics, and a vibrant campus life.
Placements: So, the placement of the Mechanical Engineering department is 97-99%. The highest package was around 20.5 LPA, the lowest was 5.5 LPA, and the average package is 7-8.5 LPA. Top companies like Tata Steel, JSW, JSL, JSPL, L&T, Vedanta, RIL, ABG, etc., visit our college. They provide various roles such as GET, Management Role, Design Role, Sales Role, etc.
Infrastructure: The Mechanical Engineering department has good infrastructure, including well-equipped labs and smart classrooms with projectors. The high-speed Wi-Fi is available across the campus. The central library is large, air-conditioned, and has enough books and journals. Hostels are very good but less maintained, with issues like water problems and Wi-Fi issues. The food quality is average, but you can eat. The grounds for sports are very good, and the sports infrastructure is good.
Faculty: Faculty members are experienced, supportive, and knowledgeable, especially in core subjects; however, some professors are less experienced and knowledgeable. Exams are moderately difficult, and you can score very well with one week of study before the exam. The passing percentage is 95-97%.
Other: I chose Mechanical at NIT Jamshedpur because the placement is very good, and this is the oldest branch with strong fundamentals and good industry exposure. The campus life is vibrant, with events like OJASS (tech fest) and CulFest (cultural fest).

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2029

Placements are great. Infrastructure is decent. Mess food is average. Fests are below average.
Placements: Placements are great on paper, but the records include off-campus placements. As per the 4th-year seniors, the placements are much better than at other NITs. You will get to this rank. So if you are focused on placements, then you can join this college.
Infrastructure: The first-year hostel is great. It is newly built. It is a 2-seater hostel. The hostels for other years might feel old and in poor condition, but they are the same as other hostels in India, and they are single-seater. The lecture hall is great. The mess food is bad. For girls, they have built a new hostel, which we do not know if they will allot to first years or not.
Faculty: Faculty members are qualified, but you will not understand anything in class. The exams are of decent difficulty, but the checking of copies is lenient. The branch is a hill. You will get Alok sir, who does not take more than 5 classes in the entire semester.
Other: Electrical Engineering is the most popular branch in this college. You have to address seniors as Sir and Ma'am. There is no ragging culture here, but they ask you to give your introduction in the correct format. If you are not able to give it in the correct format, they make you repeat your intro. So some people might find this culture toxic. Many fests are organised here, but do not keep your expectations too high, since they are not great. The college lacks a few facilities, such as a good gym, auditorium, hockey ground, etc.
