National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai offers a full time B.Des, B.FTech and UG Diploma courses. Available at the UG level, admission to this course is based upon merit/entrance exam. Candidates taking admission to various courses offered by NIFT Mumbai may find NIFT expensive. Bing a private university, this can be the case but worry not to provide equal chance to every student to study in this college, the college offers scholarships. There is relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories. However, there is no age limit for applying to the postgraduate programmes at NIFT. When applying for admission to design courses at the NIFTs, the candidate must also carefully go through the academic requirements. Note that even if a candidate qualifies the NIFT Entrance Exam but doesn't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, he or she will not be considered for admission.
The total seat intake for NIFT Mumbai MDes course is 43, including all the categories such as Open, SC, ST, OBC (NCL), GEN- EWS, PwD (Open, SC, ST and OBC (NCL). For the NRI/ Foreign Nationals category, the National Institute of Fashion Technology Mumbai MDes total seat intake is 5.

Yes, NIFT Mumbai is good for BDes programme. It is one of the 18 campuses of NIFT and has ranked in the top 3 in the country for the 3rd consecutive year in 2025. The college offers a BDes programme in full-time mode for 4 years. It is offered in several specialisations such as Fashion Communication, Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, etc.
National Institute of Fashion Technology Mumbai has an Anti-Ragging Cell. Hence, the freshers will never meet with this problem while studying in this college. The college premises has strict laws against the student found guilty of any act such as abusing, assaulting, threatening, teasing and embarrassment to new students, among others.
NIFT Mumbai accepts entrance exam of NIFT which has two written tests: CBT based GAT (General Ability Test) and paper-pen mode CAT (Creative Ability Test). For UG courses it is followed by Situation Test and for PG courses it is followed by Personal Interview round.

The total fee is around INR 150,000 per semester. The scholarship provided is called SARTHAK and it provides financial aid to economically weaker students.
For scholarships, you have to provide documents like Aadhar card, pan card, your bank details and your last one-year transaction details of bank, your income certificate.
The scholarship is only for tuition fees and the student has to take care of the food and lodging expenses.
The cutoff for the 2023 B.Des programme at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai, was 80th rank for fashion communication and 191st rank for fashion design. For 2022, 2021, and 2020, the cutoff was in this range plus or minus 10 ranks.
