National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), Berhampur offers a full-time BTech programme that lasts four years. The programme is offered in various specialisations. NIST BTech admission is a multi-step process. Aspirants must begin with applying for the JEE (Main) as it is the accepted entrance exam for BTech admission. NIST BTech Admission 2025: How to Apply?
BTech admission at NIST is entrance-based. The admission process includes the online application, entrance exam, physical reporting and fee payment. The steps included in the process of NIST admissions for its BTech programme are given below:
STEP 1: Application Process
The first step is to apply for JEE (Main) as it is the accepted entrance exam for BTech admission. The JEE (Main) application fee is INR 1,000 for unreserved category candidates and INR 800 for reserved category and female candidates. Candidates applying under the NRI quota must register on the institute's official website. After registering, they can fill out the application form and submit it along with the required documents and an application fee of INR 400. For offline application, candidates need to visit the campus of the institute & submit the hard copy of the application form.
STEP 2: NIST BTech Selection Process
Candidates with a valid JEE (Main) score can apply for OJEE counselling. 70% of the total seats are filled through this counselling. 15% of the seats are filled through JEE (Main) counselling of other states. The remaining 15% of seats are reserved for the NRI Sponsored category. To register for OJEE counselling, candidates can visit the official website at www.ojee.nic.in.
STEP 3: Physical Reporting and Fee Payment
Shortlisted candidates must report at the NIST campus for document verification. The final step in the admission process is to submit the NIST fees to confirm the admission. To confirm their admission to NIST's BTech programme, candidates must submit the admission seat confirmation fee of INR 15,000. This fee will later be adjusted in the course fee. The OJEE Board releases the OJEE counselling notification online on the website, ojee.nic.in. The OJEE counselling process has started on June 20, 2025.
Candidates who qualify the OJEE exam will be eligible to participate in the OJEE counselling process. The qualifying candidates have to complete the OJEE counselling registration online once the registration window opens. The registration process for OJEE counselling comprises registration, choice filling & locking, seat allotment, and reporting to the nodal centre. The authority will release OJEE counselling 2025 schedule online. The registration window will be open for approximately a month and the students can lock their choices and get the document verification done after the final seat allotment process is complete.
NTA has not announced the JEE Main 2024 form fill up date. However, it is expected that the application forms will be released in December. The tentative JEE Main 2024 application form date session 1 is December first week. JEE Main application form 2024 will be available online on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in 2024. Interested candidates will be able to apply from the official website. JEE Main 2024 registration last date will be last week of December or January first week. As the exam will be conducted in two sessions, NTA will release separate application forms for both the sessions.
