Q:   What is sectional cutoff in CAT exam?
    A:

Sectional cut-off in the CAT exam refers to the section-wise percentiles required by the candidate to make it to the Personal Interview round of the IIMs or other top MBA colleges. Q:   What is the CMAT cut-off at which National Insurance Academy's PGDM admission is provided?
    A:

Applicants applying for PGDM admission at the National Insurance Academy should have a valid rank/score in one of the recognised entrance exams, which include CAT, CMAT, and MAT. The cut-off varies from year to year. Applicants applying for PGDM admission to the institute through CMAT should target getting a rank higher than 95.

Q:   Are CAT cut offs announced along with the CAT result?
    A:

CAT cutoffs are usually not announced with the CAT result. The CAT cutoffs are also not released to the public.

They are published after a few days of the result announcement when the IIMs and other colleges start their shortlisting process. The IIMs opens their shortlisting window based on the CAT cut-offs two to three days after the result announcement. The CAT percentile of candidates shortlisted for the Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) can be considered the cut-off for that IIM. For example, if a candidate with a CAT percentile of 99 belonging to the General category is selected for the WAT/GD-PI of IIM Calcutta, then the CAT cut-off for IIM Calcutta is 99 percentile. Only those candidates who make it to the WAT/GD-PI round of IIMs will get to know the cut-offs.

    Commonly asked questions
    On Curriculum
Q:   How is the PGDM course structured at National Insurance Academy?
    A:

National Insurance Academy PGDM course is a two-year full-time programme, divided into four semesters. Both semesters have a comprehensive syllabus containing theoretical and practical knowledge. Candidates are advised to prepare for the CAT/MAT or any other management entrance exam syllabi for thorough preparation, which will equip them for academic as well as professional challenges after they graduate.

Q:   How many questions should I solve to get a good score in CMAT?
    A:

Since every section of CMAT has 20 questions in total, solving 15 to 18 questions in each section with 80 percent accuracy is considered a good attempt in CMAT, and it can ensure a good percentile in the exam. In the GK section, about 10 to 12 correct attempts will be enough. Out of 100 questions, candidates must try to solve about 70 to 75 questions to achieve a 99 percentile. However, candidates must aim to solve a higher number of questions with maximum accuracy and minimize negative marking. To be able to achieve this target, candidates have to prepare for the CMAT in a disciplined manner. Candidates must set aside about three months to complete the CMAT syllabus, as they have to study five subjects and their numerous topics. If they have appeared for CAT, XAT, and IIFT exams, then they can complete the CMAT syllabus in one month as well. However, it is advised that candidates spend at least three months on CMAT syllabus for complete preparation.

The course is very much in line with what is expected in the insurance sector, making students industry-ready. NIA has a trimester system, making studies a bit hectic. However, it's manageable with regular studies.
Other: I chose NIA because I wanted to enter the insurance sector, and NIA is the best gateway to enter the private insurance sector in India. There are several events throughout the year HR summit, insurance summit, and Manthan. The campus is in a very happening area of Pune, bringing insane proximity to all hotspots.
