On Admissions
Q:   Is it easy to get admission in Progressive Education Society's Modern College of Engineering?
A:

Depending on the subject and the applicant's scores admission to Punes Modern College of Engineering (MCOE) of the Progressive Education Society varies in difficulty. There may be fierce competition for well-liked programs like the B.Tech in Computer Science Electronics and Mechanical Engineering. For undergraduate engineering programs MCOE usually needs students to take entrance examinations such as the MHT-CET (for Maharashtra residents) or JEE Main (for non-Maharashtra residents) and for postgraduate engineering programs, GATE scores.

A strong academic record and high entrance exam scores increase a students chances of getting admitted. Entry is somewhat competitive because of the high demand for certain disciplines even though it's not as competitive as top-tier universities.

It has good staff and faculty. The campus is small as other colleges. Not many fests are celebrated.
Placements: 40 percent of students get placed every year. The highest package offered is 20 LPA in our college, and the lowest package is 3 LPA. Companies like Amazon, Google, etc., hire students. I don't have an idea about internships now. Roles like an engineer, developer, company manager, and CEO are offered for jobs.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are very good. It includes projectors and a long board. The hostel is very nice. There are all facilities such as a library, turf, indoor games, etc. The quality of food is excellent. My hostel name is VN Lahoti Hostel, which is really excellent and gives premium-quality food.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and helpful for every doubt. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students intelligent and ready for a job. Semester exams are not very difficult. In our college, 3 CIEs are conducted, and after that, there are semester exams of 60 marks. It needs 75 percent attendance.
Other: I am from an electronic background, so I chose it.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of the faculty and the lack of industry-relevant technology.
Placements: Placements in our course are average, with the highest package of 10 LPA and an average of 3-4 LPA. The top recruiting companies this year were TCS, Cap Gemini, Infosys, etc. Approximately 50-60 % students in our course get placed. Top roles offered are software engineer, web developer, etc. I will rate 4 out of 10 for our courses' placement records.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is just for the name; it works in specific locations only, and sometimes doesn't work. Labs are good, but some PCs are effective, which are not getting replaced at all. Classrooms are near and clean. Cleanliness is maintained daily. I feel angry about the library system in our college. Means they say not to use laptops in the library. This thing is a bit confusing, I mean, where the students will go to study. Every student in a teaching-related course needs a laptop, and they have to use it to study.
Faculty: Teaching quality is a bit low, which means I have experienced that students are more knowledgeable than faculty members. Some teachers are helpful, while others are too rude. Specifically, about curriculum, I will not say perfectly relevant, but yes, a little bit relevant, and about making students industry-ready, definitely not. Exams are very easy. Meaning, almost all students pass the exams.

Strong IT placements, supportive faculty, decent infrastructure, and average campus life.
Placements: I am final year student ( 2026 passout),70-80% of IT students got placed ( our seniors). The highest package is about 17 LPA, average is around 6 LPA, and the lowest is about 3-4 LPA (mostly ). Top recruiters include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and Cognizant. We have one mandatory subject ( as internship - gap between 6th and 7th sem), so we have to do internship mandatory ( 100% students got an internship) mainly in IT roles like software developer. But for offline internship, we don't have support from college as 75% is mandatory ( you can do internship remotely).
Infrastructure: The IT department has modern labs, high-speed Wi-Fi, smart classrooms, and a well-stocked library for academics. Hostels- (very less vacancies), but- 24/7 security, comfortable stay. Canteen food is average, mostly hygienic, but more expensive. The campus includes sports grounds (but it is mostly open for modern college of Arts, Science and commerce) and a gymkhana, encouraging events like cricket, volleyball and badminton (association). Medical facilities are available on campus for emergencies. Overall, the infrastructure and facilities are good for academics, sports, and daily life, amenities could be improved. The environment is safe, supportive, and student-friendly. Need to pay 5 rupees daily for parking.
Faculty: One of the things I mostly like about my college is the teachers, helpful and supportive faculty, mostly knowledgeable and qualified. Course curriculum is based on SPPU, but now college has become autonomous, so it has changed and been upgraded. But still, I don't think it makes students ready for the industry, there is a need for a practical approach. Semester exams are moderately difficult, designed to test conceptual understanding and practical approach. The pass percentage is nearly 70-80 %.

Great college, best to grow, and a bright future.
Placements: In my college, more than 80% of students were placed. In my course, the highest package was of 12 LPA, the lowest was of 4 LPA, and average was of 6.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are TCS, PTC, Wipro, etc. More than 100% of students get internships from many of above companies. Top roles are software developer, project manager, and data analyst.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good with high-speed Wi-Fi facilities, computer labs, smart classrooms with AC, and library with a digital library. Also, hostel facility is affordable and hygienic with very good quality of food, and a canteen. OPD for medical assistance and ground for sports is available with sports equipment.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and highly qualified with high knowledge in their field of expertise. They make us industry-ready with different internships and work experiences, as well as practical knowledge about work ethics and job-oriented skills. Passing percentage for papers is 40% but papers are strict and knowledgeable.
Other: This is a trending course with good jobs and opportunities to grow, hence I chose the course, and the college is really worth it for that.

Small campus and good faculty.
Placements: 40% of students got placed during the 2025 academic year in BE Electrical with the average package of 2.5 LPA to 6 LPA. 90% of students got internships as part of a curriculum. Senior electrical engineer is the top role offered in government jobs, and in the private sector, it varies from company to company.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is not working properly. Library is good but crowded. We use it for writing purposes mainly. The mess is again moderate, although the food is good, but cannot rely on that for always, the maintenance and cleanliness are good, there are also stress and an outside area for the canteen. The hostel is good, we get a bed and a locker. We don't have any kind of sports event as we don't have our own ground.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and well-qualified, and they help whenever we have doubts, but some are not helpful. Course curriculum is based on theory only. Semester exams are easy, as they have only 2 units, 30 marks, but end-sem exams are hard, as it has 6 units, 70 marks, but if we prepare properly, it is easy.
Other: The best thing about the course is getting core industrial experience, how things actually work, and how we can improve them. I would wish to improve the curriculum according to recent industry needs and focus on practical implications.

If our main goal is to study, then we can consider this college in our list.
Placements: The total number of students who get placed this year is approximately 60%. The average package for our branch is 4 LPA, and the highest package is 12 LPA. As we are 1st batch of autonomy, we don't have placement records of the autonomous batch, but on my side, this college is not for placements.
Infrastructure: We have all the facilities needed in the college premises, excluding a hostel facility. The college campus is small and modern-looking. We have a playground, but honestly, there is no kind of sports run by the college itself. There are other sources through which we can play sports championships. The college mainly focuses on studies rather than sports.
Faculty: We have good and experienced faculty members. They teach us well. The college course curriculum is decent enough to make students good engineers. The college tries to encourage students to perform their best in their examinations, and for that, we have 3 mid-semester exams called CIE and 1 end-semester exam.
Other: The main highlight of my course is that it not only makes engineers, but it tries to give multiple information about electrical equipment, machines, etc. We have a little bit of basic coding so that in the future, so students should not have any problem.

With 49 percentage it's hard to get admission in MCOE as the first round closing score would be 97% and final round closing score would be 95.89%

Maybe you can try any other private colleges.

For the BE or B.Tech programs, Modern College of Engineering cutoff list is generally released after the JEE Mains Examinations, based on the difficulty of the exam. Higher the score more will be the chances to qualify.

So, the cutoff list will tentatively released after JEE results.
