The college is not very good comparing to other colleges.
Placements: A lot of companies come here, but the salary they give is too low, the HOD of the mechanical department does his best to help the students to score marks and have good placements, at least half of the students gets placed and some even get placed even without good marks because of their hardwork.
Infrastructure: There is no Wi-Fi available for students, sometimes we get but with minimum range and speed, the lab facility is okay, but not great, classrooms and college structure is bad actually, and the library is too small and not a good one, and there is actually no appreciation for sports and games.
Faculty: The teachers do their best and try to help every single student, they are all very well qualified persons and has a very good knowledge and the student-faculty ratio will be like 1 teacher for 30 students, they use new technologies to teach us and we haven't got any industry exposure.
Other: The campus events are pathetic, campus crowd is okay and campus surroundings are really good.

Good industrial exposure but infrastructure needs to be improved.
Placements: Placement cell in my college was very active. However, as far as mechanical dept. is concerned, off campus was given more importance than the on campus drives. (scenario seen in mechanical dept. of most colleges). We were updated with recruitment activities of prominent establishments such as SPIC, TAFE, etc. Don't know about other department activities. Overall, IT related job offers dominated the campus drives.
Infrastructure: Mechanical related lab activities were very good. Lathe lab and fluid mechanics lab were highly sophisticated ones. But still could find lacuna in lab activities to fulfill curriculum demands. Library maintenance is good. But students were encouraged to have their own study materials. It reflects on library activities such as less yearly updation with recent books. Other activities such as Sports, NCC, NSS were given least importance. Almost in 'dormant' stage. Food provided and hostel facilities were not worth to the money spent.
Faculty: Overall, engineering curriculum is in dire need of overhaul. The syllabus became very obsolete that it could not meet industry standards. It resonates highly on engineering studies that it merely becomes 'teaching and learning process'. It was the case with our college also. However, management tried to tackle it with streamline classes such as Solidworks, Creo, etc. We were allowed to have site projects, hackathons and industrial visits.
Other: Annual cultural fests were held. Each dept. conducts a technical symposium every year. Other events such as Tamil fest and Onam celebrations took place. Campus is well maintained and an easily accessible place on Coimbatore-Tiruchi highway.

Totally dissatisfied due to faculty, management and facilities.
Placements: This college provides placements and students need to pay placement fees yearly, except for the final years. Final year students have an option of where to opt for placements or not. Mostly IT companies were hiring students from RVS. The mechanical students here have to find jobs on their own after their studies. I think most of the placed students don't get any response from the company side, after the course. The placement cell here does not take care this issues. They just need only a passport size photo of the placed students for placing a large flux board in front of the office. No internships are provided for students by the college. We students need to find companies for an internship if we need them. Most probably, this college will not give permission for an OD for the internship.
Infrastructure: Mechanical engineering laboratory is well equipped. The classrooms here are very poor as even I got better infrastructure classrooms in my higher secondary schools. The college does not promote sports and games. Quality of food in the canteen is very poor. There are no Wi-Fi facilities available here. The hostel facility available here is very pathetic, with rooms, bathroom and toilets not in good condition. The mess and men's hostel have a distance greater than 1 km. Also. the infrastructure structures given in the college website is wrong.
Faculty: The professors here are qualified. Some were helpful and friendly while some of them will behave rudely to students. They have an attitude of high school teachers. Their teaching quality is not very good. In the final year project, professors gave good marks to some students showing partiality. In my group of the project, we had 4 students, but we got fewer marks than the other two, without any consideration of our efforts in the project.
Other: The fee for the mechanical students is a total of Rs. 1,25,000 per year. Here, Rs. 85,000 will only be the fee whereas the balance of Rs. 40,000 will go to the management as a donation. The funny thing here is that if we pay Rs 85000, first they give the donation receipt of Rs 40000 and we need to put a sign that we agree to pay the donation to their trust. Then only we get the fee receipt, or we will be able to pay our yearly fees. The staff and the management have a rude behaviour against some students as they are economically safe. I personally suggest the college is not suitable for Kerala students. Now the number of Kerala students studying in RVS is low, and now the management promotes Kerala culture and festivals to get admissions from them.

Other: A college with a lot of facilities but it is of no use. It is not utilised by the management. Fees is the main thing college is focusing on. Poor faculty. Simply taking placement fees but there are no placements at all. Campus is big but infrastructure is poor. Overall, a high publicity cinema like college but no quality in education and for our future. They should improve many things instead of coming up with some unnecessary rules which has no sense.
