The exam-conducting authority (IIT Roorkee) will decide the GATE cutoff 2025. It is conducted across the country jointly by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, and the Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISC Bangalore), on a rotational basis on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB-GATE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD), Government of India. The GATE cutoff will be released with the official result. Candidates who clear the GATE 2025 cutoff marks will be eligible for the counselling procedure. Candidates will be able to check their marks on the official website. A direct link will also be provided on our webpage once it is released. As we know, the cutoff for the GATE exam will be based on the number of students who appear in the examination, the difficulty level of the exam, the average marks scored by the maximum number of candidates, etc. Read more about the GATE 2025 Cutoff: https://www.shiksha.com/engineering/gate-exam-cutoff.
GATE CSE is considered the most demanding branch in GATE M.Tech admissions. Due to high competition, the cutoff is usually high in top-ranked institutes. 80+ marks, out of 100, is the safe score in GATE computer Science and information technology. Candidates can get admissions to top IITs and NITs with this score.
The GATE branches/subject codes that demand for the highest GATE cutoff scores are -
- Computer Science and Information Technology
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics and Communication Engineering
The difference between the GATE qualifying marks and admission cutoff is as follows -
- Qualifying Marks: Minimum score needed to pass GATE.
- Admission Cutoff: The score required to get into specific institutions
The authority revises the GATE cutoff every year. The GATE 2025 cutoff will be released along with the result. Although the cutoff might remain the same for two consecutive years, the conducting IIT releases a revised cutoff every year. An aspirant cannot qualify for the exam on the basis of the previous year's GATE cutoff. The number of applicants for the GATE exam varies every year. Therefore, on average, around one million students register for the exam. These students came from different educational backgrounds, like engineering, Science, and mathematics. Basically, GATE is a gateway for those candidates who want to take admission into several postgraduate programs in engineering, technology, and Science fields offered by prestigious institutes, including IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other universities across the country. Also secures employment in public sector undertakings that recruit candidates based on their GATE score. GATE qualifying cutoff is the institute eligibility cutoff, and on the other hand, the GATE admission cutoff ensures a call for admission at IITs, NITs, IITs, and CFTIs. Check below in detail:
GATE Qualifying Cutoff: It is the minimum mark a candidate must score so that he or she is eligible for admission. But this does not mean that a candidate is selected for admission. Actually, it is fixed before the announcement of GATE results. It is announced by the conducting IIT and available on GOAPS. It includes qualifying marks for each paper.
Admission GATE Cutoffs: It is the final opening and closing rank score fixed by the participating institutes for the selection of candidates. It is to be noted here that meeting the admission GATE cutoff does not mean that the candidates will be selected for admission. It is fixed after the GATE result date. It is declared by the individual participating institutes and available on their respective counselling portals (CCMT/ COAP).
