Great college with great opportunities.
Placements: About 20-30% of students who had opted for placements got selected. The highest package was for 12 LPA, and the average is about 5 LPA, with the minimum being 3 LPA. Companies like TCS, Mahindra, and Cognizant come. All students have opportunities to apply for internships, but it is on the students whether they apply or not, and most of the ones applying get the internship (paid or unpaid).
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is the best. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus. Classrooms are fully air-conditioned, and the four libraries on the campus are also the best in class. The hostel, from what I heard, is a bit costly but is good for the price. The mess and canteen food are also delicious, but sometimes a bit oily. Medical facilities are also available, and we have big grounds and a dedicated sports complex.
Faculty: The faculty are very helpful and knowledgeable. The courses are also very future-proof. We are also given projects from the first year to the last year to develop our skills. The semester exams' difficulty, I would say, is above average—not too difficult but also not easy.
Other: The course is good, and it has special subjects like cybersecurity and data science included in it. I would personally prefer some more hands-on learning, though. The events and fests are okay. There are many opportunities for scholarships and extracurricular activities. The alumni are also very friendly and helpful.

This is how Somaiya works.
Placements: The percentage of people placed into companies from my class was no more than 15%. The average package was around 3 LPA. No internships were provided from college, and even if we find internships ourselves, they don't allow it as it may reduce our attendance.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and the campus were mind-blowing. Every corner of the college had Wi-Fi access. The libraries had all the books required by the students for studying. Although the cost of the hostel was high, the accommodation seemed very comfortable and safe.
Faculty: The teachers were very knowledgeable and helpful. They clear your doubts anytime you call them. The course curriculum was mostly theoretical; it would have been better if they focused more on practical subjects rather than just theory. The exams were easy according to me, and the pass percentage would be around 70%.

B.Sc. (Hons.) in Computer Science - Batch of 2024

Satisfied with the infrastructure, campus, fests and labs, but dissatisfied with the faculty.
Placements: I recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science Hons. from Somaiya Vidyavihar University’s batch of 2021-2024. I do not recommend SK Somaiya College to anyone who wants to get placed in top recruiting companies. We barely had a placements drive, I do not recall any top company coming into our college for placements. They did not conduct a walk-in placements drive. There were only 2-3 companies who were ready to give 2-2.5 LPA, the companies were all startup based. Not even a single student got placed in any of thes companies. So the percentage of students getting placed in top recruiting company is 0%. They provided us with the internships but it wasn’t worth it. Top roles offered in my course are that of data analyst and software developer. But our college didn’t provide us anything.
Infrastructure: For someone who loves exploring and loves to see the infrastructure and is an athlete, Somaiya is 10/10. They have many labs available with PCs working, classrooms are wonderful, the view is good with each classroom having an A/C now. When we were in the college, it work in progress, but now it's all done. Library is also good. For each department, there is a different library. Wi-Fi works properly. The canteen food is amazing and the mess is amazing, I can say that Somaiya college is made for the infrastructure and for sports persons.
Faculty: Some teachers are so knowledgeable while the others act like they have zero knowledge. They will help and provide you with the questions bank only if you are their favourite student. As for the course curriculum, it’s all theory and not at all what I expected. It does not make the students industry ready for sure. The difficulty level is at 60%. One can score good if they have studied properly. Passing percentage is 95%.
Other: I thought Computer Science would be interesting and I would learn more about practical knowledge instead of theory knowledge. I had to learn everything from youtube and other platforms. The best thing about this course is that it gives you theoretical knowledge making your foundation stronger. I would like if Somaiya improves their faculty and brings more experienced teachers who teach more about practical things like programming languages and developing applications and testing. About fests, every now and then you'll get to enjoy fests. But I did not enjoy it much. The timings of the fests are so unimaginable. They don't inform you about anything on time.

I am satisfied with all the staff members, course curriculum, etc.
Placements: In a batch of 100 students, around 30-40 students get placed in good companies with a salary package of 2-3 LPA. About 10-15 students get internships with good salaries in companies like Amazon, etc. Top recruiting companies like Infosys, LTI, TCS. Etc. The highest salary offered by Infosys is Rs. 20,000 per month.
Infrastructure: The campus life is amazing, with strong and good Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the whole campus. Our college provides delicious and amazing mess and canteen foods. There are wonderful sports and medical facilities like blood donation camps, etc. Hostel rooms are good, clean, and tidy. There is a fresh environment on the campus, which gives a fresh mindset to study.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are good, helpful, highly qualified and trained. Their teaching quality is very impressive. The exam facility is quite well with the best teachers for moderating. Paper checking is very good and honest. If we have any queries, then teachers are always there to help us.

Our college provides poor teaching.
Placements: I have hardly seen students of B.Sc. computer Science getting placed in well known reputed companies. Although students have approached various companies personally and got placed. Our next graduating batch had much more and better placement offers than us.
Infrastructure: The most important facility for our B.Sc computer science is a computer lab that is very spacious and very well organised. They have total 3 computer labs with around 80-90 computers in every lab. Secondly, the classrooms are very spacious and theatrically arranged seats with ample of space. Overall, the infrastructure is very much better compared to other colleges.
Faculty: There were only a few knowledgeable faculty members and could deliver the knowledge well or were supportive. Rest all the faculty members for our course were hardly able to deliver the content or thorough with the topic which they were teaching. Handling the curriculum was very poor.

The infrastructure and facilities are absolutely amazing, and the faculty are alright.
Placements: Only one student was hired by Larsen and Toubro the previous year. About 10%-15% of the students got placed. A student who got into L&T was offered a salary package of 3 LPA, but she didn't take the offer and chose Frappe.io for a salary package of 5.5 LPA. I have no idea about the lowest salary package and average salary package offered. I don't about the number of students got internships.
Infrastructure: The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled with speeds up to 100 Mbps. Computer labs have Ethernet with speeds up to 700 Mbps. The food served in the canteen is well-liked by most of the students. The campus has two libraries enriched with multiple copies of many useful books. Classrooms are spacious, well ventilated and the benches and desks are unscathed (which is rare) therefore enabling students to write exams without writing pads too. The campus features almost all sports and well-maintained sports equipment (except the table tennis tables which are not that great).
Faculty: Teachers in our college are qualified, but most of them are not good enough as teachers considering the technicalities of our subjects. They communicate in English, but some of them cannot, which makes their lectures way more difficult to understand. There is one faculty named MS Poonam Pandey, who is one of the best teachers I have ever met. She has immense knowledge and an amazing understanding of the subjects. The rest of the teachers know well enough as far as the syllabus is concerned.
Other: Computer Science lets me develop a problem-solving attitude and also helps me learn many other ways of solving similar problems by interacting with my colleagues. The syllabus as of now is the best syllabus I could imagine it to be, so I don't feel like much can be improved right now in the course. The college is laden with many departmental fests and one main college fest named Utkarsh. It also promotes many extracurricular activities such as reading off syllabus books and participating in different clubs such as idea club, music club, Rotaract club, etc. It is a strict rule to wear decent clothes on the campus.

I had a mixed experience at S.K. Somaiya College.
Placements: Placements in the college are average, B.Sc. IT and B.Sc. CS are seated together for the placement drives. Students must have 60% marks in order to be eligible for placements. Companies like TCS, Wipro, L&T, Tech Mahindra, Accenture, Capgemini, etc., visit the college for placements. The average salary package offered is 2-2.50 LPA.
Infrastructure: The entrance of our college has a picture of the father of the nation. The building is fully AC equipped, but the ACs are not switched on for students. The college building is new, and the benches and desks are average. Lifts are provided for students also, and the surroundings of the college are pretty good. The campus is located in Somaiya which is the best in Mumbai.
Faculty: Faculty members in the college were strict especially regarding attendance, and when you don't attend the lectures, they would call your parents like in a primary school. But apart from this, faculty members provided good teaching and were quite experienced. The course curriculum was prescribed by Mumbai University.

I am not satisfied with the course fee.
Placements: Students got placed in our college in service-based companies.
Infrastructure: Our campus has two separate hostels for boys and girls. Classrooms and campus are well-maintained. Labs are not well-maintained, and some PCs do not work properly.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and supportive. Some of them won't teach well. They keep rushing their portion. Semester exams are different from Mumbai University. They don't provide us with objective questions. The question paper is all about theory. Exams are conducted for 60 marks. All questions are based on the syllabus. Each unit consists of four questions, and each question is for five marks, and one question is optional. It makes it difficult for students to pass exams. The pass percentage is 60%.
Other: I always wanted to do engineering, but during the pandemic, I didn't study well and failed to get into good engineering colleges, so I applied for this course and got a seat. I took admission to this college because it is one of the best colleges in Mumbai, but the fee is high. This course is not affordable for financially weak students. Sandipani's hostel fee is Rs. 20,000 per month. The polytechnic hostel fee is comparatively low than the Sandipani hostel.

Hii
Yes, definitely you can continue studying. There is no age to start, but determination is important. But, still revision is must.
