SGGSCC BCom Admission 2024: How to Apply?

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce BCom course admission is based on the CUET scores. To apply for the BCom and BCom (Hons) programmes, candidates are required to follow a certain process which includes appearance in the CUET, registration for DU CSAS, CSAS counselling process and, seat allocation. Given below the SGGSCC BCom admission process:

1. CUET Application Process 2024

Candidates seeking admission to the BCom and BCom (Hons) programmes offered at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Delhi University must register on the CUET UG portal, fill out the online CUET UG application form and pay the examination fees. Candidates will be required to pay the following amount towards CUET UG exam fees:

Phase 1. Applying to the University of Delhi

Phase 2. Submitting the preference for BCom and BCom (Hons) programmes and SGGSCC

Phase 3. Allocation Cum Admission

During Phase One of the application journey, candidates have to register for fresh admission, provide personal details, academic details and, upload the documents. If candidates are applying through sports or ECA quota, they must upload supporting documents. The final step of the application process is to pay the CSAS 2024 application fee of INR 250 (INR 100 for SC/ ST/ Pwd category candidates).

3. SGGSCC BCom Selection Criteria 2024

After the declaration of CUET results, candidates must apply for phase two where they must fill out the preference for SGGSCC and BCom programme.

4. DU CSAS Counselling Process and Seat Allocation 2024

The final round of SGGSCC admission is the allocation cum admission round. After the declaration of CUET UG results, DU will allot SGGSCC according to the preference given by candidates and, scores obtained by them in the entrance exam.

Once candidates accept the provisionally allocated seat, SGGSCC will verify the eligibility and documents uploaded by candidates online. The college has an option to 'accept' or 'reject' the admission if they find discrepancy in the information provided by candidates. If the college accepts the application, candidates must then pay the Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce BCom fees. The tuition fee is INR 1.1 lakh.

Review of my college - Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce.

Placements: The majority of the people in my course get placed, and Deloitte does mass hiring in our college. The median package is around 5–6 LPA and the average is about 4 LPA. The highest package is 24 LPA last year. Many companies like Crowe, RSM, EY, and PwC come to our college.

Infrastructure: The classrooms are air-conditioned and corridors are clean and very tidy. We also have recreational facilities like table tennis and a canteen. The canteen serves good and healthy food options for everyone. The college also provides medical services for students.

Faculty: The faculty is highly qualified and approachable. The course is very well-structured and the SEC, VAC, and GE options are also very diversified. The building is divided into blocks for different courses and the timetable is very well-set for the classes.

SGGSCC has the best commerce and finance society in DU.

Placements: Out of all the DU colleges that have a Sikh Community Quota, SGGSCC is perhaps the best. If academics are the best, nobody will rate it the best. Even if academics are the best, people still won't rate it the best. But because the placements of our college are the best among its peers, it's the best college. The annual recruitment drive for our batch is on, and hopefully, the previous highest placements, which were in the range of 20–24 LPA, will be broken this year.

Infrastructure: The college only has a girls' hostel. There is no boys' hostel. Most students are from Delhi or Punjab. Punjabi is the second most spoken language on campus. Even the canteen and medical staff are from Punjab. The overall infrastructure of our college lacks nothing apart from a boys' hostel.

Faculty: Lovely people. Most of our faculty members are so down to earth. Even after having such high-profile teaching posts in DU and having such magnificent degrees, they are so helpful. I have not seen any of my faculty members going and boasting about their achievements. Thus, they are the real heroes. They believe teaching is their Karma. They teach us as if their life depends on it.

Other: Ecothon, hosted by Economics Hons students, and Monexus, which is our commerce society's annual fest, are as good as any top fests.

Overall, I would say the college is amazing and is a Tier 1 DU college focused on commerce.

Placements: Placements are definitely one of the best aspects of SGGSCC. Companies like KPMG, EY, and PwC visit the campus, along with companies offering roles in finance, consulting, and marketing. The placement cell provides students with opportunities and preparation sessions.

Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure. It has well maintained classrooms, a library, & computer labs. The downside is that campus is small compared to other DU colleges. It is spread over 10 acres. The canteen is fine. The sports facilities are not the best.

Faculty: Faculty is quite knowledgeable and helpful. The teaching experience is mixed from teacher to teacher. Semester exams are moderate in difficulty. They are manageable with consistent studying. Some subjects can feel more theoretical than practical. Teachers are supportive.

It's a very good college if you want to continue in the commerce field.

Placements: The placement process is pretty well organised. They keep students informed about all company requirements and various things needed when signing up for different companies. A lot of Big Four companies come to campus, like Deloitte, PwC, EY, etc. Other companies like Bain & Co., Blinkit, TresVista, etc. also visit.

Infrastructure: All classrooms have air conditioning, which works 24/7. Along with that, we have a state-of-the-art library, which has multiple floors, and an amazing auditorium. The infrastructure of this college is honestly better than most of the colleges I’ve seen on the Delhi University campus so far.

Faculty: Some teachers are genuinely so dedicated to teaching and passionate about it. They somehow make even boring concepts like accounting fun and make you want to attend the classes. Professors are knowledgeable and often bring in their real industry experience into a seemingly normal class.

Other: I think placements and infrastructure are the best parts of this college. Along with the various societies, some of which are very active and fun to be a part of.

My candid take on my college.

Placements: I was recommended this college by my friends, as SGGSCC has placements of note. In the third year, which is mine, TCP organizes placement sessions and also training prior to that. So, the entire process is very organic and transparent. The highest package, I am not sure, but placements for B.Com (Honors) are close to 70% at our college.

Infrastructure: There are ACs in each classroom. They are well ventilated too. They are definitely quite spacious, as 60–90 students can be easily accommodated in each class. The entire campus is well maintained. The library still needs a special mention. The canteen and medical rooms are also world-class.

Faculty: The most important thing is that faculty members are extremely talented and know exactly what they are doing. They are very serious during the lectures and act as friends after that. So, one can get the best from them, but they have to make sure they are in the good books of the faculty members.

Other: The annual fest and annual cricket tournament are organized by our college, SGGSCC.

One of the best colleges of DU.

Placements: The average package at the college is around 6.5 LPA, which is quite good for an off-campus college. The college's placement cell also works very well. I have seen people getting placed in the Big 4 through the college campus placement circle only, which is a good factor to consider.

Infrastructure: Infra-wise, it is top-notch. The entire college is air-conditioned. There are no issues with the college infrastructure. Canteen prices need to be reduced. The college is good cleanliness-wise. Recently, it ranked among the top 10 cleanest colleges of University. The washrooms are also good.

Faculty: Faculty is cooperative, but the subjects we are studying are still old-fashioned. The college offers various VAC-SEC courses, which do not provide any benefit in the future. However, practical things are taught well. We just learn Tally here. Faculty teaches it well, although it is only part of the syllabus.
