B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2024
1.6
It was the worst experience.
Placements: Placement is very bad in this college. Firstly, they do not allow joining an internship. The so-called placement cell is also composed of one incapable person who has zero industry connections who will always misguide you (it is better if you do the opposite thing of what he will suggest you to do). They always stick to two or three (CTS, Mindtree, Infosys, etc.) companies for the placement of maximum students, and inevitably for the batch of 2024, it was a disaster. As the market was not so much up to the mark, CTS took 18 (103 previous year) and Mindtree took 4-5 students (104 last year) and Infy zero. They are so much dependent on these two companies but do not allow other companies like PwC, Accenture, and TCS to take the students from on campus; I don't know why. We saw our friends getting placement from other colleges, but we were told that everywhere the condition is tough. So I believe placement needs to be improved so much, and a new and capable placement coordinator should be appointed.
Infrastructure: Labs are not so good but okay. Hostel facilities are not available. We had a tough time getting classrooms as the batch strength for the new batch was being expanded and the college was also being renovated, but now the problem is solved, I believe. The library also has a huge collection of books.
Faculty: Some teachers are helpful and really qualified, and their teaching quality is very good. But maximums are very bad. They have the worst accent; they don't know how to teach. They make the students feel dumb. Ultimately you will not understand anything from their class, and you have to study from YouTube. But the tragedy is that you have to attend those classes; otherwise, you have to pay a fine for low attendance. It is like a school. You will be charged a fine for everything. You will not be industry-ready; this is for sure. They will always try to harass you for everything.
Other: Every year, cricket, football, and badminton tournaments take place. There are farewell parties, freshers, and Tech Fest, but with much drama from the admin.

Decent placement opportunities with school like atmosphere.
Placements: Placement is decent, although mostly in IT and almost none in core sectors. Some mass recruiters, such as LTI Mindtree, Infosys, and Cognizant, hire a lot of students from on-campus, as well as some mid-level startups, such as P360 and Nrift. The average package is 4 LPA and the highest is around 9 LPA. Although in 2024, in our batch, there was a huge increase in placement numbers, only a handful of people got placed in the startups, and the mass recruiters didn't visit.
Infrastructure: No hostel facility is available. Canteen food is below average except for the price of the meal, which is average. Classrooms and libraries are good. Libraries issue books to each and every student. Wi-Fi access and labs are decent and students can use them any time during college hours.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, with most of them holding Masters and PhD's. They are approachable and help students after class. The teaching quality is decent. The course curriculum is decided by Makaut University. It is a bit outdated; it teaches the basics but is not proficient in the recent trends and technologies of the industry to make students industry-ready. Semester exams are fairly difficult. You have to study thoroughly to get good marks.
Other: I chose ECE because I wanted to be eligible for both core and IT placements. The course is outdated but college has nothing to do with it as it is decided by the university. Fests and events have started recently. Scholarships like the SVMCM are available.

Absolutely Disgusting Experience.
Placements: Only 8 students are placed in ECE out of 63 students till now. The highest package is 5.5LPA and the lowest is 3.5LPA. P360 has recruited 5 students and Incture has taken only 1 from ECE and some 2 students have got job from offcampus. I don't have any idea about the roles they got. None got internship from our department.
Infrastructure: The labs are well-equipped with instruments. But there were no AC in our labs. Each group is assigned a table and each group contains 3 students. There is Wi-Fi in the college and libraries doesn't have enough books for everyone. There is no hostel facility available in the college. Just like academics, this too is to be arranged by the student himself/herself. Teachers will just sit and gossip in the labs while the students do their practical. No one will come to help even if the students call them.
Faculty: The teachers are qualified. Most of them are either Ph.D. holders or they are pursuing it. But the teaching quality is the worst. They just makes some nonsense presentations and spends it off the students. Very often their notes doesn't match with the syllabus given by MAKAUT. The teachers openly taunts the students in the classroom making the college look like a *** for the students. They doesn't even help the students in the final year projects and create hindrance about your higher studies. They will take your 12th marksheet as soon as you take admission in the college, making it difficult for you to appear in further Competitive exams. Moreover, if you miss 75% attendance in any subject, you have to give Rs.500/subject as fine to appear in semester exams. Some professors maintain a sense of ego and laziness everytime you SEE them. There are finest for beards also. Every morning, if they SEE you with bear, they will shamelessly ask for 10 rupees. In STCET, there are many hidden cost other than the semester feels like you have to buy the lab manuals every semester I. e. around 200-300 rupees then you have to pay MAKAUT registration for exam feels I. e. Rs.1200 each semester. And the most important is the placement training which is around Rs.120000 (one time) in the 5th semester. That training won't teach you anything and It is optional, so better not to take it. The College has a dress which you have to wear it everyday making you look like a school student. The director prioritize financial gain over educational needs. This business-centric approach makes a decline of quality education and overall student satisfaction. They only brags about their College which I haven't found anything to brag about.
Other: I took ECE so that I could be eligible for both Hardware and software industry. It has many subjects which makes you Industry ready. It is advise to change the behavior of the teachers to improve the course. There are small events like "SREY", farewell, Freshers that happens in our college but they are not upto the mark good. The college doesn't provide Scholarships but they have TFW.

Very good placements in 2021.
Placements: Our department at our college is very good. Here, many companies visit and they hire the maximum number of students; in the last year, it may have been 10.84 lacs per annum, which is the maximum salary and the average is around 6 lacs. LTI, Mindtree, Nomura and some start-ups visit here and hire students.
Infrastructure: It has very good faculty and a very good department. Here, any hostel cannot refer from college. So in the same locality, you might find your mess; food is available in this locality. The departmental lab is very fine. So this is amazing.
Faculty: Here, faculty is very good and helpful; they are qualified in MTech, Ph.D., MS, etc. The teaching quality is super; co-curriculum activities happen; here you can have the opportunity to build many projects; you will always be helped by faculty. The semester exam is moderately difficult; I don't know the exact pass percentage.

This college is pretty strict. You can not spend you college life fully.
Placements: In my class there is 60 students. Almost 90% students get job. The highest package is 10 LPA and the lowest package is 3.5 LPA. The top requiring companies are CTS and mindtree. But this college does not provide any internship. But yes you can get an on campus job.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good enough. But you can not get free Wi-Fi in the campus. There is no facility of hostel. The library is pretty good. You can study in the library. The canteen is also there and serves a quality of good food. Every year the college arrange many of the tournament.
Faculty: Yes teachers are helpful. Almost eve teachers have their Ph.D. degree. The teaching quality is also good. The semester exams are not difficult but you can get some anonymous questions in the paper. But most of the students pass easily. An internal exam is conducted in every semester.
Other: From this branch you can go both in the software as well as the hardware department. No teach fest is organized in this college.

Satisfied with faculty and lab facility .
Placements: As it private engineering college so major of the recruiters are from Service based IT companies like Cognizant, Infosys, Mindtree, Nomura, P360 etc. Last year the highest package was 10.65LPA, the lowest was 3.5LPA and average was 4.5 LPA. These details are includes both ON and Off campus. Most of the students who are eligible for placements ( no active backlogs ) are placed. Companies mainly higher the students on System analyser and Service management trainee role. About internship opportunities, Students who are placed in companies, get internship in 8th semester by the company ( paid internship ). Overall placements are good as a tier 3 college.
Infrastructure: Classrooms has intake capacity of 60 in students in my department. Most of the teachers are highly qualified from famous institute, Averagely everyone try their best to teach. Lab facility is good with very helpful lab assistants and notable point is " college doesn't have any hostel facility ", we have a college canteen, food is average quality in there. College have sports facility like cricket, Badminton, football and TT tournaments. Also Sports events occur in whole year.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified from famous institute and are very helpful, they try their best to clarify the concepts. As the college is under University, course curriculum design by them are not so much relevant. Syllabus is very old with backdated knowledge. It doesn't make students fully industry ready as per my view. Semester exams guard are very horrible in the college, RA and Others things are seems very muchfully here. But if any student take serious study then Pass the exam is not very much difficult because questions are very basic level.
Other: I chose this course because I like my branch and have interest in it and have a aim for pursuing higher studies. I think the college should reduce their rules and regulations which make it as school. Dress system should be removed. Fests generally not conduct but tech fest and freshers- fairwell conducts every year. Scholarship facility is also available here.

This college is very good and good environment.
Placements: You get 100% placements in this college. The maximum package everyone gets is between 1L-5Cr. Most of the companies ho are regular here are- TCS, Infosys and IBM. Above 50% of the students get internship.
Infrastructure: The facilities in our college is Wi-Fi, labs of different kinds, classrooms with projectors libraries, digital libraries, medical room and Boys common room and girls' Common Room and Canteen too. The facilities in our college is also very good and requisite.
Faculty: The teachers are nice friendly and very helpful indeed. The teachers are very good and knowledgeable and the teaching quality is 5 star. The course curriculum is very relevant and everyone becomes industry ready. The semester exams are pretty much decent and the pass percentage is high.

A Rounded Review of St. Thomas.
Placements: The companies which come for recruitment are P360, Nomura FinTech, Cognizant, Wipro among others. Most of the students get placed in these companies. The packages offered are also competitive. They range from 3.5LPA to 8LPA. Highly depending upon your capability to crack the aptitude and coding skills. The placement percentage is around 85-90%. Overall St. Thomas has a healthy placement percentage.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are clean and well maintained. The labs are well-equipped though the computers are a bit date and need to be updated. The biggest plus point for St. Thomas is that the campus is really very green and has a college ground. The entire campus is well maintained and you'll definitely want to click some picture around. Overall the campus is a 9/10.
Faculty: The teachers are qualified for their position as most of them are Ph.D. holders. They possess adequate knowledge about their subject. Some of them teach really well and can make the class interesting. This cannot be said about all of them though. The course curriculum is very relevant as it is framed by MAKAUT. They often introduce new subjects according to the trends in the industry. The semester exams are held under MAKAUT and are easy if you give time. You can easily pass the subjects if you start studying a month before exams provided that you have common sense and are able to fill the answers sheet.
Other: One thing to note about St. Thomas is that it is a very discipline and rule oriented college. This can be irritating at times. You're fine for having less attendance, having a bear and coming late at times. If you default too much on these, your guardians may be called too. Best way to avoid these trouble is to have an attendance manager app to track your attendance. The college is lacking in terms of parties and fests held apart from the traditional and cultural holidays. Sports is promoted and the college has common room for both boys and girls.
