My honest review about my college.
Placements: Placements in general are quite great because of how longstanding the university's reputation is. I am especially pleased with the internship opportunities provided, because of which I even landed a job. However, one batch in every few years may face the brunt of a bad job market. But students can keep in touch with their classmates/seniors for opportunities. I worked with The News Minute and The Hindu Businessline. Other big media companies also frequent the university. Students will have to do two mandatory internships, one summer and one winter.
Infrastructure: Every student is allotted a 2-sharing or 3-sharing room, each with an in-built washroom. Each room also has its own Wi-Fi. The rooms are somewhat spacious. There is enough privacy, also. They are not too concerned about what you do in your private space, except for abusing alcohol/other substances. The hostels also have cleaning staff, so students don't have to worry about cleaning.
Faculty: During the course of two years, the college brought in at least 7 different guest faculty who are experts in their respective fields. Our in-house faculty are also very qualified and experienced in their own ways. The curriculum is designed keeping in mind the industry requirements. Every student could select among the plethora of options offered, picking their own interests and pursuing them further. With the option of electives and flexi-credit courses, there is exposure to almost every type of media.

Teachers are helpful in nature.
Placements: In the year 2023 placement season, 100% students of in journalism get placed. The average package offered by the companies is Rs 7,10,000/- per year. The highest package offered by the companies is Rs 12,00,000/- per year. The top recruiters are Network 18, The Times of India, etc. Coming for the campus placement.
Infrastructure: The studio with a chroma studio, a massive shooting floor, a PCR room, a Teleprompter Pro System, 2 studio cameras, and audio equipment. The central library has a collection of over 2 Lacs books on various topics as well as a wide range of journals and magazines.
Faculty: The teachers are friendly in nature and guide the students for the future as well as for their careers. The teachers are well qualified and have a great knowledge of the subject. This course makes the students industry-ready. The exams are held semester-wise as well as mid-semester-wise.

My review of this college.
Placements: Placements were 100%. The average package offered was 10 LPA. Job opportunities were great. Top news channels like IBN7, Headlines Today, Star News, NDTV, India TV, and Times Now came for recruitment. Almost two-thirds of my batch got placed successfully. The others got placed. The average package was 4 LPA-6 LPA at the start, with the highest package going up to 21 LPA. Every student had to undergo an internship for 2 months after the 1st year of their course. The college's placement team helped students get a good internship through on-campus opportunities.
Infrastructure: Hostel rooms are awesome, clean, and good services are provided. Wi-Fi is available. Mess offered good, varied food respecting all festivals, genders, ethnicity, race, religion, etc. The mess food was mostly better than expected, and there were also other eateries. Hostel accommodation accommodated all as it offered a full-time residential course.
Faculty: The best thing about the faculty at SIMC was that they were not only professors but also mentors and facilitators. Every student in the course had a different perspective about communication design, so it is important for the faculty to understand the students' perspective and doubts, which were handled extremely well at SIMC. The semester system was a CGPA system, so the pass marks depended on the average score. Every semester, there were 6 subjects. But, 40 marks for the semester exam as external and 60 marks for internal exams and assignments were done in each subject during the semester. The courses were very well-defined, with each semester the bar being raised so that proper knowledge enhancement was done for the students. Each module had its section for research. There was a process to be followed for each subject.

Review of SIMC Pune - Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication.
Placements: I cannot provide the placements information as of now because I am in this college from few days. Due to the pandemic, we are having online classes from home so I cannot interact with the seniors who had their placements this year. As far as I have heard, the roles offered are in the production houses or content creating. Some of them prefer freelancing. Some students work in movies or television. Some make documentaries and others make advertising films.
Infrastructure: The institute has top-class facilities. The infrastructure of our college is one of the best in the country. Many films have been shot here. Our college is beautiful, picturesque and the best experience to live among nature. The hills feel like a home away from home. It is surrounded by people from all over the country and even some from abroad. It has people from all cultures and religions. The animals, especially the dogs, can be seen everywhere and all love them. The rains are constant throughout the year, and the weather is beautiful. Wi-Fi facility is available here. Classrooms are well-equipped, and the library is the best. You get a lot of facilities in the library, both online and physical library. Hostels are great. It is a residential course, so it is compulsory to live in a hostel for the whole 2 years. There is a huge sports ground, and all kinds of sports, indoors and outdoors games are available here. There is a gym, swimming pool and basketball court. Our college also conducts an annual college sports event. There are a mess and a midnight canteen. The canteen serves better food than a mess. Labs are great with a lot of facilities.
Faculty: Professors in our college are the best, and all of them have been in the industry from so many years. They are well-experienced, helpful, understanding and caring. The course curriculum is good. I am from a non-media background, so the first semester is just the basics from the scratch of mass communication. M.A students have to do 2 internships in 2 years. Since I have just started college, I cannot say more about the benefits of the course curriculum.
Other: The institute is student-driven. There are various cells and circles by students and for students. They keep on conducting various events and fests throughout the year, which helps the students to show their skills. Festocomm and SimCuts are the flagship events. Freshers is also one of the great events organised at our college, and it is known as Aarambh.

Not a bad college but room for improvement.
Placements: About 80% placed. Average salary was 5 Lacs per annum. Students were offered jobs in digital media mostly with few placed in print media. Almost all the students got to do internships in various fields across India. Yes the placement cell is quite useful as students play an active role in it.
Infrastructure: Great infrastructure of industry standards. 3 huge studios as well as photography studios we're present for students to practice and do their assignments. Hostels were brilliant with only one or two person to share with, with an attached washroom. Students and staff were quite nice.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful with great insight into the field. Had many guest faculty members from the industry who were also helpful during internships and placements. Various classroom activities and assignments required stepping out of the college campus to do it.

If you wish to join SIMC, think again.
Placements: The placement process is fair. Mostly channels, production houses come for placements. The average salary is not too high and you mostly join as a creative trainee. There is placement cell which looks after the affairs of placement procedure. Film production houses do not come placements. There is not guarantee of placements.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is mesmerizing when you first look ATIT but then it becomes dull and mundane. It's too far away from the city so travelling is major issue. Boys hostel is leniant but girls hostel have too many rules. Mess and hostel are a little far. The utilities shop inside campus rules a monopoly.
Faculty: The course curriculum is designed well but it is not covered well. There are very few lectures covering vast syllabus. Only are few faculty members are interesting and know about there subject. There are only 3 permanent faculty for audio visual course which is too less for amount of fees charged to the students. Facility is a huge disappointment.
Other: Inter Symbiosis events takes places (as it is very difficult to reach this campus. ). The campus administration treats it like a jail. This place is not organic enough to grow as a person.
