Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has issued a circular directing institutions affiliated to it to ensure proper compliance of the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme while admitting students through Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission counselling (UPTAC).

The circular read, “There are reports that some institutions are flouting norms by not admitting students under TFW quota as well as other reserved category. And there are institutions in which students admitted under TFW scheme are being asked to pay money in addition to the required fees. Strict action will taken against such institutions.”

What is TFW scheme?

The candidate whose family income is less than INR 2.50 lakh from all sources are eligible for seats under Tuition Fee Waiver scheme. Every college reserves additional 5 per cent seats for economically weaker students. As per the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), fee waiver seats for economically weaker meritorious candidates are available in BTech/BHMCT/BFAD/BFA courses in all institutions affiliated to AKTU, Lucknow. No tuition fee will be charged from the candidates admitted against such seats.
