Ensure strict compliance of TFW scheme: AKTU tells affiliated institutes

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has issued a circular directing institutions affiliated to it to ensure proper compliance of the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme while admitting students through Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission counselling (UPTAC). 

The circular read, “There are reports that some institutions are flouting norms by not admitting students under TFW quota as well as other reserved category. And there are institutions in which students admitted under TFW scheme are being asked to pay money in addition to the required fees. Strict action will taken against such institutions.” 

What is TFW scheme? 

The candidate whose family income is less than INR 2.50 lakh from all sources are eligible for seats under Tuition Fee Waiver scheme. Every college reserves additional 5 per cent seats for economically weaker students. As per the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), fee waiver seats for economically weaker meritorious candidates are available in BTech/BHMCT/BFAD/BFA courses in all institutions affiliated to AKTU, Lucknow. No tuition fee will be charged from the candidates admitted against such seats.

Q:   Who is eligible for AKTU BTech CSE?
A: 

AKTU BTech admissions are through UPTAC. The AKTU eligibility for BTech CSE is as below:

  • Class 12 from UP board/ CBSE or any other equivalent board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and a minimum of 45% aggregate in Class 12 (40% for SC/ ST candidates)

A minimum of Class 12 is required for AKTU UG and graduation for AKTU PG courses. Below is the AKTU eligibility for top courses:

Q:   Does AKTU accept CUET for BTech?
A: 

Yes, AKTU accepts CUET score for BTech. AKTU admission to BTech through CUET is for two specialisations:

  • Agriculture
  • Biotechnology

Apart from these, CUET score is accepted for direct entry to the second-year of BTech course. Candidates can apply for CUET for BTech (LE) admission.

The fee waiver seats will be limited to a maximum of 5 per cent of the approved intake in the course, and will be over and above of the sanctioned intake. These students must submit certificate no. 12 (income certificate) at the time of verification of documents. However, there will be no tuition fee waiver seats available for BArch/BPharma courses.

Q:   Can I apply for MBA after graduation at AKTU?
A: 

MBA is a two-year course divided into four semesters. AKTU offers MBA at campus through the Institute of Engineering & Technology, UP Institute of Design and Faculty of Management Studies. Interested candidates should check the eligibility requirements before applying for any of the MBA courses. Aspirants who have passed the bachelor's degree/ equivalent examination can apply for the MBA course. Apart from the academic qualification, candidates also need to qualify CUET-PG to get admission to AKTU MBA course.
