Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), is a leading institution standing as the epitome of quality technical education. It was reconstituted as AKTU from "Gautam Buddha Technical University, Lucknow" and "Mahamaya Technical University, Noida" on 1st May 2010. The AKTU Main campus is located at Sec-11, Jankipuram, Vistar Yojna, Lucknow, UP. AKTU is one of the largest technical universities not only in India but perhaps in Asia. Because of its gigantic size and number of colleges affiliated to it and geographic dispersion, it has been subdivided into five zones with 150-160 colleges in each zone for the ease of management and facilitating inter-zonal comparison and possible internal competition to enhance the quality of teaching-learning processes. AKTU is measured to be spread across 2,45,000 sq. km, covering various academic blocks and offering various facilities to the students, such as canteen, transportation, library, auditorium, seminar halls and various other facilities. AKTU also houses a library with e-Journals, e-lectures, online course materials, and other facilities.

Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) was founded in the year 2000. It was renamed in 2015 to honour India’s beloved “Missile Man,” Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. 700 institutions are affiliated to AKTU, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various specialisation fields of engineering, management, architecture, etc. It has made its mark by focusing on including digital innovations in examinations, research promotion, and entrepreneurship across its institutions.

AKTU has a separate academic block that consists of various administrative buildings covering the Admin Office, faculty, and other dedicated academic departments. Inside the block, the university has an Academic Cell, Training and Placement Cell, Incubation and Innovation Cell, R&D Cell and Digital Learning Hub (DLU), and it also consists of various classrooms, lecture halls, and seminar rooms, equipped with modern teaching aids such as smart boards and projectors. It has several departments, such as Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, Architecture, Applied Sciences and Management Studies, to focus on undergraduate and postgraduate learning. It also manages and evaluates academic frameworks for hundreds of B.Tech, MBA, MCA, B.Pharm, B.Arch, M.Tech, and Ph.D. programs through affiliated colleges.

AKTU goes in tandem while covering the prominent sectors, including Renewable Energy, Nanotechnology, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering, Urban Planning, and healthcare to promote research and innovation across its academic programs. AKTU’s emphasis on innovation is reflected in its various research grants, startup initiatives, and collaborative labs. The university is running various initiatives expeditiously to search for research outcomes. It has posited various initiatives such as IIT-Linked Research Incubation Cells, Patent Support Units (PTUs), Workshops for faculty development and research methodology, Centre for Advanced Research in Engineering Sciences (CARES), and other R&D-funded programs at various affiliated colleges.

To plan any picnic spots, Kukrail Forest is the best option. It is like a Mini zoo with picnic spots and eco-trails.
