This interview is for Automobile Industry, which manufactures gears for vehicles, pumps, engines, etc. This interview is for the Graduate Engineer Trainee post, also known as GET. It has a training period of one year in different departments as a trainee (Graduate Engineer Trainee) and after completion of one-year training, any one department is allotted to the candidate.

Eligibility: Candidates with a BTech degree in Mechanical and Electrical Branches are eligible for this campus placement. Candidates with a minimum aggregate of 60% in overall academics (classes 10 & 12 and BTech) with no active backlogs are eligible to participate in this placement drive.

Skills: Basic skills that a student must possess for this opportunity are as follows:

1. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of Mechanical Engineering subjects like Machine Design, Theory of Machines, Manufacturing Process, Strength of Materials etc.
2. Communication Skills: A candidate must possess good communication skills. Other basic skills required such as Interpersonal Skills, Enthusiasm, Team player, Commitment etc. 

Number of Participants: The total number of students who participated in this campus placement drive was 78. All candidates appeared in the written test in which 61 were from the Mechanical Branch and 17 were from the Electrical Branch.

Number of Rounds: There were 3 rounds for selection. The three rounds and its procedure are enlisted below:

1. Written Test
2. Extempore Round
3. Technical/HR  Interview

Under video screen and image proctoring, the written test was conducted on WHEEBOX. The test consisted of 50 multiple choice questions from technical and reasoning topics.

Two marks were given for each question, with one-fourth being deducted for negative marks. Topics asked in written tests were from core subjects. After clearing the written test, students were called for the next round (Extempore round).

The extempore round was the second round, which was also conducted online on Zoom. During this round, a random topic was given to the students and they had to speak about it for five minutes. 

Number of InterviewersThere were five interviewers in the panel and they all were from the same company. Plant Head, Head of Department Production, Head of Department Quality, Technical HR Manager and HR Executive were on the panel. 

Strength of StudentsAfter the first two rounds, test and extempore only 16 students were selected for the PI round in which 11 students were from the Mechanical Branch and 5 students were from the Electrical Engineering Branch.

Duration of Interview RoundInterview round was the last round for the selection for this post. It was conducted on ZOOM and the duration was about 25 minutes. 

Topics Asked: Interviewers asked various questions about core subjects and basic Physics. For Mechanical Engineering graduates questions from the following topics were asked:
- IC Engine
- Lathe machine
- Flywheel and Governors
- Cam and followers
- Projectile Motion
- Gear and Gear-trains
- Hydraulic Pumps
- Manufacturing Process
- Welding
- Material Science
Questions Asked During the Interview:

Some memory-based questions from interview rounds are given below:

- What is the value of escape velocity?
- What is the angle for maximum horizontal range in projectile motion?
- How to calculate that value?
- What is the difference between a nut and a bolt?
- What is the difference between the otto and diesel cycle?
- Describe the PV and TS diagram of the otto and diesel cycle?
- How is the heat added in the otto cycle?
- What are the processes in the otto cycle?
- What is a flywheel and where is it used?
- Where we can find flywheel in day-to-day life?
- What is the use of cam?
 What is a governor and what is its function?
- First four-stroke bike in India?
- What is the difference between 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines?
- Name a few 2-stroke bikes in India.
- Which material is used for the manufacturing of the bed of lathe machines and why?
- Can we use Marbles as a material for the bed in the lathe machine?
- Difference between TIG and MIG welding?
- What is differential gear?
- Describe the working of differential gear?
- Which geartrain is used in an automobile gearbox?
