Know how lack of proper guidance impacted Avinash's decision of making a right career choice. Read more at Shiksha.

When in high school, it was the first time I saw an android mobile phone which was even smaller than my palm. I was so attracted to its looks and its user friendly interface. All those system generated mails and messages were sent and received in a single touch. My fascination towards technology made me join computer science and engineering. Although the college was of my choice, equal credit goes to my brother in law who was an alumni from the same college in the Civil engineering batch.

How I chose my college and course

Making a choice of college and course was one of the most surprising decisions that I have ever taken. I was fond of biology from my childhood but in parallel I was also keen to know about software’s. Throughout my schooling, I use to hate physics but life turned it all after my XII boards.

I even thought of taking chemistry as a career option because I saw myself taking interest in +2 organic & inorganic chemistry. But, as I stated earlier, it never happens according to your plans. This is the reason I joined PCM in +2 and after clearing XII boards, I opted for Btech in Computer science and engineering from GMR Institute of technology, Rajam Srikakulam

How I cracked college admissions

It was not a simple task for me to crack college admissions as I was not at all aware of engineering colleges and no one was there to suggest any better options available. So I decided to prepare for state engineering entrance test AP EAMCET.

Again, preparing for AP EAMCET was another challenge but I somehow cracked the exam and bagged 18th rank. Not an exceptional one but I was at least eligible to seek admission into the best college in the region GMR institute of technology. Never felt the need to get enrolled in some coaching institute as I did not aim for top colleges.

But, if I decide to pursue higher studies in future then I will surely join some coaching institute for a better guidance and training. With the latest advancement in technology, one should never stop learning and this is the reason I wish to pursue higher studies after BTech which will make me stand upright in this competitive and technology driven world.

My College life

Life at GMR Institute of technology was mostly spent alone as I don’t have many friends. While attending lectures, I always felt that engineering is not just limited to academic lessons. It also makes you learn some of the important life lessons. I have spent 3 years at GMR tying to fight tough times, depression and failure. Other than this, I also participated in various extracurricular activities to divert my mind.

I believe that one should always have a goal in life. I never had one when in school but now, I do have a goal in life, I wish to seek admission in one of the IITs and pursue MTech.

As discussed earlier, life at GMR made me learn some important life lessons. One of them is to be flexible in life and not restrict yourself within a vicious circle of things which you feel you are comfortable with. I have started living life with a very different prospective as compared to when I joined my college. It is more important to lead a happy life than a life full of stress and anxiety. I can illustrate this with a funny example of pizza and the full meal. Both will satisfy hunger but, pizza despite of being a contly meal will attract you, whereas a simple meal will cost less than 100/- will not draw your interest over pizza. There are people who deliberately opt for a complicated life rather than choosing a simpler way of living.
