As a child, I always admired my uncle as he was a software engineer and I always wanted to be like him. As I grew up my interest in the field of science begin to grow. After 10th, I chose Science (PCM) as my stream. Choosing the right stream is very important for your career. For some people, it might be a tough decision but for me, it was easy. I wanted to know more about the new technologies around us, therefore, I took PCM (science) as my course of study in for higher secondary.

After 12th I appeared for JEE Main. As my JEE rank was not good I was unable to get any government college. Then I decided to go for private engineering colleges providing a suitable and decent course in the field of technology. There were myriad options available and I was very confused at that time. Therefore I went through NIRF rankings of colleges by MHRD and found Medicaps University, Indore as the only private university among rank 150.

The college has good connectivity from my house. The college had a good infrastructure, proper facilities like hostel, library, gym, canteen, sports complex and ground. The college provides B.tech in CSE with some specializations like data science and cloud computing. These are the needs of the present time, therefore, I was excited to take the course. After knowing the fee structure and other details, I decided to take admission in Medicaps University as they also have a good placement record.

As we know the entrance exams for engineering in India is JEE Main and it is compulsory for students willing to have an engineering degree. I too gave the exam. After the result, I started searching for colleges.

In Medicaps University the admission process involves counselling session based on the results of JEE. There is different cut off for different courses and I was able to choose my course i.e B.tech CSE-Data science based on my score in JEE. The only entrance exam I gave for admission to my college was JEE Main. No separate entrance test is needed to be given for admission to Medicaps University. The only thing required is to get your registration done on the online portal of the university and all the procedure will be based on the marks obtained in JEE.

I took coaching for the preparation of JEE. There are several coaching classes available for the preparation of the exam. I did my preparation from a local coaching institute in my city which helped me to understand the exam pattern and the techniques to score more. We had to take care of the school board as well because though the syllabus is almost the same but the preparation and the pattern of examinations are very different. In 12th standard, I changed my school to focus on the coaching. I think coaching is important to guide us properly.

I also tried for other colleges like SRM University, Amity University etc for admission. Amity University, Jaipur was the college I was willing to go and I also cracked its entrance exam. But it was far from my home and also the fee was quite high therefore I dropped it.

The class timings are fixed according to the given time table. Students must attend classes regularly. I enjoy the classes as the professors are friendly and easy to approach. The classmates are like my second family and I love spending time with them. Also, the campus is huge and the students are allowed to do everything that comes under college guidelines without any restrictions. The library is one of the best places in college where I spend most of my time doing assignments, reading books and novels. The environment in the library is very good. Wi-fi is also available for the students. A separate cafeteria is there on the campus where students spend their leisure time with friends. The classes like data structure and computer graphics are two of my favourites.

In the first year of the course, there was a subject named communication skills which was based on improving the communication skills of students. It involved various activities like article readings, essay writing, speaking on the topics given on the spot, roleplays etc. The subject was fun to attend as well as beneficial for me.  During my free time, I play cricket, go to the gym and sometimes even take yoga sessions also. Extracurricular activities like sports, fitness, yoga are held regularly. I am a member of the college basketball team.

If given a chance I would like to join the drama club and also the social group of the college. The social group helps the needy people nearby the college and I want to be a part of those activities.

After I entered college, my perception of the world and society has changed. College life has made me a more mature and sensible person. It has given me a chance to know different people and their habits more closely.  Now I am more confident, smart, intelligent and visionary. In school, I was a shy student and was unable to face people.
But in college, I interacted with many people and that helped me get rid of my shyness. I learned a lot from each individual I have met. I can now present my opinions freely in front of a large crowd without hesitation.
