Mystory@Rahul Sharma: How I chose my course and college
Right from my primary school I wanted to opt for commerce but because of parental pressure I had to opt for Science. After that I developed an interest in Science. I wanted to go pursue a career in cricket, but due to of lack of sources I could not fulfill my dream. I was a very bright student in my primary school but as soon as I got to the Eighth standard I went to the wrong direction. My results started to go down, but my family stood with me and supported me in all possible means because of which I could score 10 CGPA. After that I made new friends in my +2 school. In the beginning I focused on my studies as well as my JEE preparations but, with time my zeal to study kept on decreasing. By the end of the year my performance really went down. I started studying for my Board exams only 2 months prior to the exam, but was able to score quite well. On the other hand, my JEE preparations were going on really well and so I decided to give it more time. After a year’s struggle, I was able to score good in the private colleges. But my score was not enough to get into any of the NITs. I was not very serious with the preparation of this college’s entrance exam but could still manage to get a seat in PES University in CS.
How I cracked college admission
I never expected to get into this college but fortunately my rank was good enough to get me a seat in this college. I gave VITEEE, BITSAT, COMEDK etc. Though I scored well in VITEEE, I still opted for PESU because I was getting CS in this college. Since I was in Ranchi I attended an institute Brothers Academy. That institute helped me in my preparation a lot. The entrance of this college went well. It was more about accuracy with speed. There were less of conceptual questions, and more of memory testing questions.
What I gained from my college experience
My college is PES University situated in Bangalore. I spend most of the time in my room. I am a very isolated person. I make less friends. I love computer games. I always expect to score good but I am unable to do that. Maths is my love and I only want to attend Maths classes. Our college campus is too small but has a very good infrastructure. Bangalore people are too friendly. My college offers 100 percent placement at least for the CS branch. My college hosts a number of events and I am generally a part of them. I play a lot of cricket in my college. My college offers a really advanced way of exam conduction that is through computers and it is good for CS students. The food here is very good. The college is fun to be in. If ever given a chance I would like to be a leader of a club hosting events and lead the group with my full ability, and my college can offer me this opportunity. I am satisfied with my college and hope to achieve a lot by being a part of this college.
