Students’ Speak: Admission journey of a KIIT student
By: Sachin Kumar Singh
In tough competition, one has to choose wisely and not rigidly in deciding about the future. Keep other options open, analyse, and compare as and when required. Take guidance and support from seniors and experts.
Everyone aims higher in their life and wants to excel in every field they choose, be it in sports or education or any other field. With complete dedication, hard work and enthusiasm, one could achieve the best results as their future completely depends on it. In this article, I will share my experience and challenges faced when I could not get into a good government institute for my engineering.
In May 2015, the results were out and I was called for counselling. After discussing with my seniors, I got aware of the fact that my rank was not up to the mark. In UPTU, there are various colleges, however, only a few of them are good. There are few colleges with good placement results with world-class infrastructure, and facilities. The students are required to deposit an amount during counselling which could go in vain if they do not get admission. Keeping this in mind, I decided not to attend the counselling process. Also, I was not interested in preparation for exams again. At that time, KIITEE results were announced and I was called for the first round of counselling which I attended and got admission in the Civil Engineering branch. Today I am working with a top-notch construction company as a GET. I would advise not to overthink about college rather focus on your exams and give your best. Nowadays, private universities also invest a lot in their students to enhance their skill set.
Since the competition is high these days and everyone is in a race to give their best and achieve success. At the same time, everyone deals with peer and parental pressure at some point. So decide wisely.
Also, it is not like that if you get a good government college, your future is secured. The scenario has changed now and most of the thing depends on the attitude and skills of a person.
In my opinion, do not get too rigid while choosing a branch or college, always keep other options open for yourself.
