Students’ Speak: Top things to do when preparing for JEE Main
By: Akansha Maurya
The only difference between the Class 12 and JEE is Class 11 syllabus which is to be revised. Therefore, the easiest way to revise is the weekends while preparing for Class 12.
You have tried hard a full year for the preparation for the exam, now what to do in the last week of the exam is to solve the sample papers of the past 10 years. Check the weightage of the respective chapters and first revise the chapter from where the maximum numbers of questions are asked. Make the list of the chapter subject-wise and revise the chapters you have done before, never try a new chapter which you haven’t tried before. Note the important formulas on the page and go through it daily in the morning. Complete the full theory and conceptual part before a week for exam and just try questions in the remaining last week.
JEE Main Tips on Time Management
One should make a balance between everything one does. One should have a proper timetable, which has sufficient time for relaxation, too. One should assign the time for different chapters and subject on the basis of their difficulty level. One should do the important and easy chapters first so he can steal some extra time for the difficult one. One should start their day early, so he should get a head start. One should also have a good sleep so he can study with a good concentration. Set up deadlines so the tasks are done on time successfully.
Scorings Topics (Chapters/Preparation Strategy):
These are some important and scoring chapters for JEE Mains:
In Maths:
- Quadratic eqns
- Matrices and Determinants
- LCD
- Coordinate Geometry (easiest, but some were a bit tricky in 2017)
In Physics :
- Kinematics
- Mechanics (except rotational motion: D)
- Kinetic Theory
- Semiconductors
In Chemistry:
- Mole Concept
- States of Matter and Atomic Structure
- Equilibrium(tricky language only)
- Classification (spd block)
- Co-ordination Compounds
Set timer/deadline for each chapter and complete easy tasks first. Note the important formulas and theories on a page and go through it daily.
JEE Main Revision Approach
One should revise the most important and scoring chapters and subjects first. Then he should check his capability by doing last year papers. One should revise in short blocks and should have proper rest breaks for refreshment.
Preparing for Class 12 and JEE Main
The only difference between the Class 12 and JEE Main is Class 11 syllabus which is to be revised. Therefore, the easiest way to revise is the weekends while preparing for Class 12. One should complete their Class 12 syllabus on weekdays and schedule his weekends for revision of Class 11. As Class 11 syllabus weightage is 60% in the JEE Paper, so all the important formulas should be noted which can be revised easily. One should firstly prepare the interlinked chapters of Class 11 and 12 so all the basics get cleared.
So, in conclusion, we get that we must get to know about best time management skills and should study the most important topic with our full efforts to reach our milestone of clearing JEE.
