Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kanpur is a 4-year programme offered in full-time mode. The curriculum covers areas such as applied mathematics, scientific computing, and foundational engineering sciences. IITK offers electives in core areas including Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Structure and Properties of Materials, Engineering Design and Graphics, and Advanced Mechanics of Solids.

The average package offered during IIT BHU placements 2026 was INR 29 LPA. In 2025 session, the average package offered was 24.49 LPA. An improving trend was witnessed as compared with previous year.

This college provides 7 courses in B.Tech which includes Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering having an average package of INR 7 LPA and the highest package of INR 52 LPA with total 991 offers provided by 104 companies. If you want to be branch specific then, the ECE branch recorded the highest number of offers during the 2023 placements, second was the CS branch.

MNNIT Allahabad selects students for BTech based on valid JEE Main score. They are allotted seats through JoSAA Counselling. Admission to M.Tech is through GATE, followed by CCMT Counselling. Similarly for MSc admission, IIT JAM and CCMN Counselling are required. However, NIT Allahabad MBA admissions are based on CAT score and the shortlisted candidates have to appear for the PI round.

All first BTech students are given rooms in the hostel. There are separate hostels for boys and girls, and the list for allocation of the rooms in the hostel is done as per the list provided by the Wardens office.
