RRB JE 2025 Exam Pattern: The Railway Recruitment Board released the RRB JE notification 2025 on July 27, 2024 for CEN 03/2024. The RRBs mentioned the RRB JE 2025 exam pattern in the official notification. The RRBs mention the exam pattern for each stage of examinations separately. The candidates are suggested to internalise the RRB JE exam pattern and RRB JE syllabus to score maximum marks in the exam and ensure their selection. 

The candidates should note that there will be two stages in the RRB JE 2025 exam. The candidates will be required to clear all the stages and clear the document verification stage to get selected in the exam.

RRB JE Exam Pattern 2025

Railway Recruitment Boards will conduct the RRB JE exam to recruit candidates for Junior Engineer posts across its various departments. RRB JE exam takes over one year to complete for various reasons. The candidates have to wait for the results and prepare for the next phase of the exam. The candidates should keep in mind the pattern of each phase of the RRB JE exam as explained below.

RRB JE exam is conducted in the following phases

  • 1st Stage CBT - Computer Based Test (CBT-1)
  • 2nd Stage CBT - (CBT 2)
  • Document Verification
  • Medical Examination
  • Final Result

RRB JE Exam Pattern For CBT 1 2025

1st Stage CBT is the screen exam only. The RRBs will refund the major part of the candidate's application fee after they appear in the CBT-1. The marks secured in the CBT 1 will not be considered in preparing the final result. 

It is the out in the most important stage of RRB JE exam because some well-deserving candidates are screened out in the CBT 1 only due to one or two marks. CBT 1 is an aptitude test which works as a filter for most of the candidates. The RRB JE CBT 1 exam pattern is as follows

There can be variations in the number of questions as given in the above table because the table is indicative in nature. For eligible Person with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) the time limit will be 120 minutes.

RRB JE Exam Pattern CBT 2 2025

The RRB JE CBT 2 stage of the exam is the main exam because the marks secured by the candidates are considered for the final merit. We can say that the CBT 2 is the final stage for the RRB JE exam because if the candidate is medically fit and conforms to all the eligibility criteria of RRB JE exam, then he will be selected if he scores above the cutoff in the CBT 2. The total number of candidates to be shortlisted for the 2nd Stage shall be 15 times the community-wise total vacancy of Posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in 1st Stage CBT.

The candidates should understand the CBT 2 exam pattern to ensure their selection in the RRB JE exam. The exam pattern of CBT 2 is as follows

The section-wise distribution given in the above table is only indicative and there may be some variations in the actual question papers.

There will be minimum qualifying marks for each category. Each candidate must secure the qualifying marks to remain in the competition. RRB JE exam authority will decide the cut-off and the candidates who have secured equal to or more than the prescribed cut-off will be called for document verification and medical examination.

Shortlisting of Candidates for the DV shall be based on the normalized marks obtained by them in 2nd Stage CBT.

RRB JE- Document Verification and Medical Examination

The RRBs declare the RRB JE result for CBT 2 and the qualified candidates will be called for the Document Verification(DV) and Medical Examination at the respective centres as mentioned in their admit card.

After the document verification and medical test, the final result will be declared by the respective RRBs.

RRB JE Minimum Qualifying Marks 2025

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) mentioned the minimum qualifying marks for each category separately in the official notification. The minimum qualifying marks are mentioned for the 2nd Stage CBT only because the 1st Stage CBT is a screening exam only. The candidates can see below the details of the RRB JE 2025 minimum qualifying marks:

The minimum qualifying marks in the RRB JE exam vary as per the categories. For General Category it is 40%, for SC/OBC it is 30%, and for ST it is 25%. 

General/EWS: 60 marks out of 150
SC/OBC: 45 marks out of 150
