Territorial Army exam pattern 2024 is prescribed by the Territorial Army. The exam pattern highlights details such as the number of sections, total marks, topic-wise distribution of questions, total marks, and marking scheme.Territorial Army exam pattern is divided into screening (written exam and interview), SSB, medical board for final selection. Territorial Army exam pattern for written exam is divided into two papers. Paper 1 comprises questions from Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics.

Paper 2 comprises questions from the General Knowledge and English. The question paper of Territorial Army comprises 200 objective-type questions. The total marks allotted to the written exam are 200. The standard of questions in Elementary Mathematics is of Class 10 level. The standard of questions in other subjects is of graduation level. Upon successfully clearing the PIB, candidates are called for SSB Interview. Here both physical and mental abilities are thoroughly assessed. Candidates are required to bring essential documents, including educational certificates, a physical fitness certificate from a registered MBBS Doctor, identity proof, domicile certificate, age proof, and a service certificate for those employed in various sectors.

Shortlisted candidates undergo a screening test at the respective Territorial Army headquarters. During PIB and written exam essential documents are scrutinized. The written exam consists of two papers for a duration of 2 hours each. Paper 1 covers Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics, while Paper 2 carries questions from General Knowledge and English. Candidates need to secure 40% marks in each paper and 50% in overall.

Territorial Army Officers Exam Pattern for Written Test

The examination authority has divided the Territorial Army exam pattern of the written exam into two papers-1 and 2.

  • Paper 1: This paper comprises two parts/sections, Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics
  • Paper 2: This paper also comprises two parts/sections, General Knowledge and English

Each paper (1 and 2) carries a total of 100 questions. The total marks allotted to each paper are 100. Candidates need to attempt each paper within two hours. The structure of the Territorial Army exam pattern is given below:

Paper 1 of Territorial Army exam pattern is divided into two parts/sections, Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics. Each section consists of 50 questions and carries 50 marks. Candidates can need to attempt each section within one hour.

Q:   Is there any qualifying marks in Territorial Army exam?

There are qualifying marks in Territorial Army exam. To qualify the Territorial Army exam, candidates need to secure the prescribed qualifying marks. To qualify each section of the Territorial Army written exam, candidates must score 40 per cent. The overall qualifying marks in the exam is 50 per cent. Besides securing the qualifying marks, candidates are also required to secure the cut off. Those who secure both the qualifying marks and cut off are considered as qualified in the exam.

Territorial Army Exam Pattern: Marking Scheme

The score of the written exam is calculated in the following manner.

  • For every wrong answer, candidates get a negative marking of 0.5 marks
  • If candidates give more than one answer, then it will be treated as a wrong answer and a 0.5 mark will be deducted
  • There will be a penalty for questions left unanswered
  • When candidates attempt a question correctly, they score one mark

The documents required at the time of the Territorial Army SSB interview are given below:

  • Application Form IAF (TA)-9 (Revised) Part-2 to be downloaded and fill it up in their own handwriting.
  • All educational qualification certificates (Matric onwards).
  • The latest physical fitness certificate from a registered MBBS Doctor.
  • Copy of Identity proof with photographs (Voter ID/PAN Card/ Passport/ Driving license etc.).

  • Copy of the latest Income Tax Return (ITR) filed.
  • Copy of PAN Card.
